Guest guest
Respected Ramanuja Bhaktas, Today is panguni revathi, the thirunakshatram (appearance day) of Sri Ranganatha, the presiding diety of what is unquestionably the most important and most revered temple in the Ramanuja Vaishnava Tradition, Sri Rangam. The temple is located several hundred miles south of the city of Chennai on an island in the River Kaveri. Here the Lord has been adored and revered for countless decades by our Azhwars and Acharyas in His Beautiful Reclining Form as Sri Ranganatha, the God of the Stage. The Lord here is captivating in this form, and is all the more enchanting in His Ceremonial Processional Form as Namperuma:l (our Lord). Hundreds of mystical verses of our A:zhwa:rs, and dozens of compositions of our Acha:ryas have been dedicated to Sri Ranganatha. He is the Deity to whom Bhagavad Sri Ramanuja offered his paradigmatic surrender for the benefit of all souls. He is the Deity who chose the Goddess Andal as His Eternal Bride. It is this same Deity whose Pa:dukas (Sandals) alone were extolled in 1000 magnificent verses by the incomparable, teacher, scholar and saint, Swamy Vedanta Desika. And it is this Lord who chose the benevolent Manavalamamunigal, an Avatara of Bhagavad Sri Ramanuja, as His Acharya. On this day, please take a few moments to meditate on the beauty of Namperumal and the Eternal Loving connection that He maintains with each and every one of us.
