Guest guest
sri: Jai Sreemannarayana! SriRangam is considered as head quarters for all the devotees of the Lord. All the Alwars were deeply involved in Srirangam and all great Acharyas settled in srirangam and spread Srivaishnava (Sri Ramanuja) philosophy to the world. For, Srirangam is the first Archa (Srivigraha to be worshippe by human beings) in this Universe. In our sampradhayam, three mantras are very important: 1. Thiru mantram: This one was given by Lord to Lord in Badarikasramam. Here Lord Sriman Narayana has taken avathara as Nara Narayana. Narayana, as Acharaya and Nara as sisya, This initiation of The Great Ashtakshari Manthra, ie., thirumantra upadesam started here. 2. Dwayamantram: This one was given by 'Lord' Narayana to 'Sri' Lakshmi, in paramapadam. 3. Charama slokam: Lord Krishna reveals this manthra to the despondent Arjuna, amidst two war forces, to put him on the tract to render his responsibility. This is found in Srimad Mahabharatha, in Bhagavadgitha. While delivering Thirumantram to the world, one question arises (Mantra1) Why Lord has taken avathara as nara (sishya) as well?, Swami Pillai Locaacharaya explains this in Mumukshuppadi. HE wants to show the practical part of the qualities of a sishya to the world. Qualities of a Shishya, though shown in scriptures, at a great length, there were/are hardly anyone, who really practiced them or followed them. He Himself wanted to take the disciple part, also make an example to the world before saying something. It was so long ago and yugas have been passed, people still need something to be understood during Kaliyuga, that too in modern age. HE wanted to say that Lord in this age, presents Himself in the form of Vigraha Swarupa only. There He wanted to show how He Himself accomodates as a disciple to a great Acharya. Hence HE has adopted swamy Manavalamamuni as Acharaya in Archavathara and HE has shown the quality of sishya to world. Five Primary qualities of Sishsya, Lord Alagiya Manavalan (Lord Ranganatha) has mentioned and are still practicing in Srirangam: 1. Sishya should make/chant thanian (a slo:ka describing the greatness of one's acharya) for his acharaya: Lord Ranaganatha has made thanian to HIS Acharaya swamy Manavalamamuni. " Sri:saile:sa daya: pa:tram, dhi:bhakthya:di guna:rnavam, yati:ndra pravanam vande:, ramya ja:ma:tharam munim|| Hence this thanian has its own importance in Sri Vaishnava sampradhaya. 2. Sishya's responsibility: Spread Acharaya's name and message to every corner of the world, keeping the manthra in his heart. Lord Ranganatha has instructed and sent Ordinance,(patto:lai) to all divyadesams to recite His acharay thanian at the begining and end of Divyaprabhandham. It is in practice in most of the divyadesams. 3. Sishya should surrender his wealth to Acharaya's Lotus Feet, i.e., thiruvadi: Adisesha is considered as wealth for LORD Sriman Narayanan. This one we can see from " sendraal kudaiyam, irundaal sing aasanamam... " Lord Ranganatha has offered his entire wealth to his Acharaya Swamy Manavalamamuni. Hence swamy Manavalamamuni is seated in Adisesha. Eventhough Swamy Ramanuja and Swamy Manavalamamuni are avatharam of Adisesha, we always see swamy manavalamamuni (Archa Vigraha, or Puctures etc) seated in Adisesha because of this reason. (Lord Sriman Narayanan has offered his seat Adisesha to Swamy Manavalamamuni.) 4. Sishya should have his Acharaya's name with his name: Swamy Manavalamamuni took sanyasam from Satakopa Jeeyar who is also desciple of Swamy Thiruvaimozhipillai (as per Yathindrapravana Prabhavam). Hence Swamy Ma:muni wants to change his name to Satakopa after his sanyasam. But Lord Ranganath appears in front of him and instructs not to change his original name Alagiya Manavalan. Initially nobody understood why Lord Ranganatha has instructed Mamunigal like this. This is seen later as Lord Ranganatha wants to adopt swamy Mamunigal as Acharaya. 5. Sishya should celebrate his acharaya's thirunakshathiram (Birth day) and thi:rtha Naal(annual ceremony): Even to this day, Lord Ranganatha is still celebrating his Acharaya thirunakshathiram and Theertha Naal. Lord Ranganatha sends all His prasadam to Swamy Mamunigal sannidhi and Lord Ranganahta's Archaka is doing thirumanjanam and thiruvaradanam to swamy Ma:muni on these two days. Lord does not take beteal leaves and nuts etc., surulamuthu (Vaetrilai and paaku) on his acharaya's theetha Naal. ======================================================= Article: Maharabooshanam Sadagopan Guidance: HH Sriman Narayana Ramanuja Jeeyar Swami
