SriMaha:Vishnu has taken incarnation as Kousalya's son 'Sri Rama'. So he

is

'sakala guna sampanna'. So Sri Rama is compared to Vishnu. An ocean is

known for 'ga:mbhi:ryam' (impenetrable depth). Ga:mbhi:ryam is one's

capacity to keep the things concealed within oneself. An ocean hides

precious gems and stones within its deep waters isolating them from

others'

view. In the same manner, though SriRama is Bhagava:n Himself ,He never

exhibited it to the world and always behaved like a human being. When

the

devatha:s approached him and referred to SriRama as Lord

Srimannarayana

Himself, He says,

 

" a:thma:nam ma:nusham manye: "

 

He declared himself an ordinary mortal. Mankind should learn this. Even

though one person is great, he should demonstrate it only to those who

have

an inclination to know and are appropriate to experience his greatness.

This

is humanity. Exhibiting one's own greatness is not humanity. This is

Bhagava:n's attribute. He exhibits Himself to only those 'jna:ni:s' and

'bhaktha:s' who love Him and wish to know Him. He would look like an

ordinary ignorant person to those who do not love Him.

SriRama resembles the great icy mountain (himava:n) in his courage.

Himava:n

is the greatest among all the mountains. A mountain is not disturbed by

heavy rain. The Himava:n is never perturbed even by incessant and

torrential rains. Such Himava:n is great for his courage. Even when

there is

reason to be moved by grief, if one's 'manas' is not disturbed then he

is

'courageous'.

Srirama got the kingdom and was about to be crowned when it slipped off

his

hands,

 

" ra:jyam va: vanava:so:va: vanava:so: maho:dayaha "

 

either kingdom or forest life it's only 'vanava:sa' that gives

pleasure,

saying thus SriRama the 'dhi:ra' happily accepts the ascetic life .He is

unruffled in any situation. During 'srishti, sthithi and pralaya' times

He

is determined in His action.

 

SriRama is equal to Vishnu in 'vi:ryam'. Vishnu is only Sri Rama. But he

came as an ordinary person. Hence SriRama is compared to Sri

Maha:Vishnu.

In the battle field, even in the most adverse conditions, unaffected by

the

large number of opponents, to be able to shoot arrows at them as if

flinging

flowers in a garden is 'vi:ryam'. This is Sri Rama's nature. While

waging

war singly with the fourteen thousand ra:kshasa:s, Sri Rama could shoot

at

them all, the same time with so many arrows. This is Sri Rama's

'vi:ryam'.

This is Bhagava:n's attribute too. As many thousands of sparks blow out

at

once from a single speck of fire when it's windy; from the Lord alone

countless forms emerge at the same time. It is Bhagava:n's vi:ryam.
