Respected Devotee,

 

Our Acharyas interpret the very name " Krishna " as being indicative of

the

nature of the Supreme Being, Sriman Narayana. The name " Krishna "

refers to

one who offers us Supreme Bliss. Such a Bliss can only come from the

Supreme

Lord, as He is the only Being in the Universe who is Compassionate

enough

and Powerful enough to grant this. All we need do is to accept Him

into our

hearst and lives, and it is none other than this acceptance that is

known as

surrender or prapatti.

 

Surrender is a psychological, emotional and spiritual awakening in

which an

individual realizes his/her complete dependence on the Divine Alone,

and

places him/herself at His Lotus Feet, becoming a simple receptacle to

His

Loving Grace and Uncondtional Protection. Such a realization can

occur at

anytime and at any place. All that is necessary on our parts is the

recognition of the Supreme Lord and a one-time wholehearted

acceptance of His

Unconditional Love. Indeed, the very mood of surrender, and the

peace and

solace that comes with it, is indeed just another aspect of His Love,

because the Lord Himself is willing to awaken us to it if with even

our

slightest inclination to accept Him.

 

Once this acceptance comes to fruition however, one's life on this

earth and

life hereafter change eternally. A prapanna, one who has

surrendered, lives

a simple, wholesome, God-centered life, living at peace with

him/herself and

expressing the Love that is now awakened eternally in his/her heart

through

worship and service to all living beings. One performs each and

every duty

of the day, either secular or religious as a humble act of service,

knowing

that these small actions are nothing when compared to His

Immeasurable Love

for us.

 

One tries to live at peace with the world, living for its benefit,

and makes

particular effort to serve those nearest to the Lord, the Acharyas

and the

devotees. And with time, when the Lord feels that an individual is

ready, He

Himself removes the bondages that are a result of his/her false ego,

and

takes the prapanna to parapadam, where He can Commune with the Lord

in Pure

Love and Humble Service.

 

While all this seems simple and appealing, it really takes a great

deal of

effort to leave the complex cobweb of one's selfish desires and

worries to

reach a state of simple Peace in God. What is necessary is a proper

understanding of the nature of the Lord as the Supreme Loving Friend

to all,

the nature of the soul as being truly happy when Serving Him, and the

nature

of surrender, which involves the opening of one's heart and soul to

the

Lord. One must also the know the obstacles that lie in the way of

those

wishing to pursue this path. None of this knowledge can come to us

easily,

as we have spent eons turning away from God in pursuit of our own

selfish

interests.

 

Sriman Narayana, however, out of His Boundless Love, provides with a

great

gift, however, by which we can gain this proper understanding of

life. This

Gift, This Incomparable Treasure, is the Acharya, the Teacher, who

leads us

patiently and slowly, praying constantly for the Lord's Grace to ever

be with

us, such that we can know True Joy and Bliss at the Lotus Feet of Sri

Krishna, Sriman Narayana. Consequently, surrender to the Acharya is

in and

of itself an expression of surrendering to Sriman Narayana.
