Guest guest
Sri:mathe: Ramanujayanamaha!! Sri Jeeyar Thiruvadigale: Saranam!! SriRama took an oath that he would return to Ayodhya after fourteen years since his guru Vasishta had been telling him; Bharatha had expressed deep anguish; the people of Ayodhya wished him to be the king; and of course he would have to stay in the forest according to the boons his father had granted to Kikeyei and subsequently accepting the throne after the lapse of fourteen years would not be against those boons. As Bharatha was not eligible to rule the kingdom or think the kingdom as his own, he begged SriRama to accept it as his, and he agreed to receive it as his own. But as SriRama was not supposed to enter the town as per his promise to his father that he would stay in the forest for fourteen years; he instructed Bharatha to rule his kingdom on his behalf. Bharatha agreed to his words and took his ‘Paduka:s’ (foot wear) and came back. SriRama’s paduka:s were only the rulers for the kingdom. He was only ‘Ra:ma da:sa’ SriRama’s Padukas were ruling by SriRama’s order. On SriRama’s command, submitting to the Padukas, thinking it as his service Bharatha administered the kingdom. Those who have the knowledge of ‘Athma swaru:pa’ should have to follow this dharma. This whole universe is Bhagava:n’s kingdom. He is the Sole Administrator. All these things which we are enjoying are His. He gave them to us to rule. But while doing this one has to keep Bhagava:n’s ‘mu:rthi’ or ‘paduka:s’ as His representative and submitting to them with the feeling that ‘this kingdom is not mine’ one can rule. He is teaching us this. Bharatha who went to Chitraku:ta with the strong belief that Rama would definitely accept the kingdom ,was not at all disheartened or grief stricken when his wish was not fulfilled; rather he returned gladly and without entering Ayodhya , stayed back in ‘Nandigra:ma’ a village near by to Ayodhya worshipping Rama’s paduka:s, following Rama’s order, considering it as SriRama's service, and thus ruling the kingdom. To be continued... Jaisrimannarayana!!! Ramanujamma Mudumbai, Ramanujadasi.
