With praNAmams to the divine feet of our beloved AachArya, H.H. Sri Tridandi Sriman Narayana Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar Swami vaaru.

Seeking the mangaLASAsanams of our Aacharya, our Ramanuja, all our pUrvAchAryAs, our Alwars, our AnDAL, our ViShvaksEnA, our sudarSana perumAL and our Lord Sriman Narayana.

I will be posting to you a series called BhOgyAmrutam from today.

BhOgyAmrutam – Introduction

This work was accomplished by my father, Sri Venkata Narayanacharya over a period of exactly 2 years. I feel really blessed to receive this knowledge from him, to get the association with him and seek his mangaLASAsanams.

HERE IS THE INTRODUCTION BY MY FATHER:

It would be really sweet to experience the thousand names of Lord Sriman Narayana by coupling their meanings with the divya prabandha pASurams. And this is what is precisely addressed by this work named ‘bhOgyAmrutam’.

As a part of this work, each name in the ViShNu sahasranAmam was interpreted using one divya prabandha pASuram.

Also, the names of sahasranAma can be split based on the stars. For example, the first 4 SlOkAs of sahasranAma can represent the first star (ashwini). The next to the next 4 and so on.

The main striking aspect about this work was that, I used to pick a name to be interpreted from sahasranAma, then pick the work of an ALwAr (based on that ALwAr’s tirunakShatram & the nakShatram into which the nAma falls) & pray to the SrI pAdams of my AchArya, “Sri Tridandi Sriman Narayana Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar Swami vaaru”. With His SrI pAdams in my mind, I used to open the book arbitararily & select the first pASuram on the opened page. If the first one was already used in interpreting another nAma previously, then I used to pick the next one in that page and so on. Sri Swami vaaru had graced me in interpreting the name under consideration with the selected pAsuram in a very beautiful way. More importantly, its not one or two lines from the pAsuram, but all the words in the pAsuram gave a very nice explanation to the name under consideration. And this happened, not for one or two, but for all the thousand divine names.

For the star aShwini, the names ( in which Sri Vaduga nambi swami was born ) were interpreted initially along with the 108 names of Sri Ramanuja graced by Sri Vaduga nambi swami. Thus, the work started with AachArya stuti. Then, all the stars were covered and the work ended with the star aShwini again. In the second go, the names in aShwini were interpreted using the divya prabandha pASurams from 14 different works of ALwArs.

The last star (rEvati) which is the tirunakShatram of Lord Sri RanganAthA, covered the 24 works of all AlwArs. All the pASurams were the pASurams, in which the AlwArs had sung about only Lord Sri RanganAthA. All the works of AlwArs, were covered for the names in this nakShatram, which is perfectly apt, as it is the star of our Sri RanganAthA.

One more wonderful experience was that all the pASurams of TirumAlai of Sri Tondaradippodi AlwAr, (from beginning to end) matched the names of sahasranAma, from the name where the linking with TirumAlai was started. There was no necessity to skip any pASuram.

I also pray to Sri PAlapancha swAmi vAru, whose translation of the pASurams from Tamil to Telugu had helped me immensly in this work. I submit a thousand praNAmams to Sri Palapancha swAmi vAru.

I was made an instrument in this work by my AachArya, “HH Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swami vaaru”; His Lotus feet had graced me, guided me and made us of me, in compiling this work, “bhOgyAmrutam” (the nectar of divine experience).

With praNAmams to the divine feet of our AachArya, our Ramanuja, all our pUrvAchAryAs and our AlwArs, I remain.

********************END OF INTRODUCTION BY FATHER.*****************************

And, I am happy to be posting these series by translating them into english. I do not know either Sanskrit, either Tamil nor English properly. So, Kindly bear with my translations and with any errors in them / any typographical errors. I hope that the nectarine experience of Bhagavan nAmAs will over shadow the errors commited by me.

I will be posting the names of stars aShwini ( the first 4 slOkams ) and rEvati (the last star), which I have with me, to start with. So, it may not be in the exact order of the sahasranAma.

I pray to my father & all the family of Lord Sriman Narayana, to grace me in completing this work, to the best of my capabilities.

And finally, I once again seek the blessings of Our Beloved AachArya, Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swami vaaru.

Happy Sri Krishna JanmAShtami to all of you.
