bhAvaha (star - Ashwini)

bhavati iti bhAvaha = The one who exists (in all His glory).

pASuram : tirucchanda viruttam - 77 (Tirumazhisai AlwAr tiruvaDigaLE SaraNam)

samanvayam with pASuram : Why is He existing?. It is only to make us all rule the paramapadam. How is He existing - He is there as the 24 tatvams (principles), the 7 islands, the 7 oceans, the 7 mountain ranges and the 12 AdityAs.

pASuram :

yeTTum yeTTum yeTTumAi | - The twenty four tatvams (principles)

OrEyum yEyum yEyumAi | - The 21 (7 islands, 7 oceans, 7 mountains)

yeTTumUnrum onrumAki | - The 12 AdityAs...

ninra Adi dEvanai | - The first cause Lord, is all of these

yettinAi pEdamODu | irainji ninru, avan peyar - To the devoted who prostrate at His lotus feet, and chant His name...

yeTTezhuttum OtuvArkaL | vallar vAnam aLavE

...His name aShTAkShari with sincerity, are the deserving rulers of the paramapadam

Detailed explanation : It is not enough to say that He is just existing. One should know, How He is existing and the reason behind that. Only then, can one comprehend His Love for us.

1) Having become the 24 principles :

The 24 principles are

five - pancha bhUtas (sky, air, fire, water & earth)

five - viShayAs (sound, touch, form, taste & smell)

Ten indriyAs - (five karmEndriyAs & five jnAnEndriyAs)

One - manas

One - intelligence

One - ahankAram

One - mUla prakruti

Total = 24

(25 is the jIva and 26 is considered to be the paramAtma)

2) (Having become) the 21 - seven islands, seven oceans & the seven mountain ranges :

These signify His taking the form of action.

3) (Having become) - The 12 AdityAs

4) The Lord (the cause of all of these) :

He is the cause of all of these. He has entered into all (jIvAs and prakruti) and exists as their inner soul and shines in all His splendour in all of them.

5) Those who worship Him by prostrating before His lotus feet :

To those who worship Him in the way prescribed by our Sri pEyALwAr.

6) And chant the aSTAkShari mahA mantram, with devotion :

The essence of all vEdAs is - 'I exist only for SrIman nArAyaNa'. Those who know this supreme truth and those who cherish this thought incessantly while doing all their actions are the ones under consideration, here.

7) They are the deserving rulers of the paramapadam :

Sri viSvaksEnA who rules the paramapadam constantly cherishes this thought - 'I exist only for my Lord SrIman nArAyaNa. This thought is there before performing any action, while doing it and even after finishing it.

This secret was disclosed by Sri viSvaksEnA himself to Sri AlwAr (Sri nammALwAr) and this secret was then passed on through our entire AchArya paramparA. Thus it has reached us too. This is also the essence of the dvaya mantram which is the explanation to the aSTAkShari.

To give this tirumantram to us, He has taken the incarnations of nArAyaNa ruShi and nara ruShi in the badari kShEtram. On our behalf and for our sake, they both keep reciting the tirumantram. Their main motto is to take us to the paramapadam (by inducing this sacred thought of servitude to Him, in us) and make us the rulers of the paramapadam. This clearly shows His extreme love for us. He exists in all His glOry to elevate us to the paramapadam. Thus He gets the name 'bhAvaha'. bhAvaha thus denotes that supreme Lord Badari nArAyaNa.
