Guest guest
6th Manthram: yasthu sava:nibhutha:ni a:thmanye:manu pasyathi | sarvabhuthe:shucha:thma:na:m thatho: na vijugupsathe: || This manthram reveals the benefits of understanding the nature of Parama:thma. It must be noted that in the Upanishads each word has a number of semantic implications. For instance, the words, 'a:thma' 'brahma' have several meanings each and at one stage they become synonyms. 'A:thma' means 'ji:va', 'dhrithau, dehi, swabhavi' and 'parama:thma' means 'jiva', 'dharana', ' bhava' and 'sari:ra'. Likewise. Brahmam also means 'Prakrithi' as well as 'ji:va'. In this manthram, the term 'a:thma' also means 'Parama:thma'. This manthram literally means: Whoever cognises that in the surrounding phenomenal world the 'a:thma' is dependent upon the 'Parama:thma' and who realizes that the Parama:thma pervades inside all the substances of the world and also outside all the substances, he is the person who has realized the truth. By implication, this manthram establishes the meaninglessness of hatred, jealousy or anger with others. For what is in your inside is also in others. Then hating others means hating yourself or the 'brahman'. Therefore the only person who can liberate himself from the impact of hatred is the one who understands the nature of the Parama:thma that is not different from the A:thma. Such a person alone remains unaffected by sin.
