The benefit that ensues from chanting Gayatri mantra can be derived by

reading Sri Ramayanam too. Just pronouncing the letters of the mantra

results in purity. Hence by inserting those letters of Gayatri mantra in

twenty four thousand slokas the Purusha in the ‘surya mandala’ is

meditated on. In Sriramayan that Purusha born in the ‘suryavamsa’ is

meditated. Sri Ramayanam is also equal to Veda. There is power for both

‘Sabda’ and ‘ardha’. By just uttering the ‘sabda’ (reading) the

‘dosha:s’ in the buddhi will be eliminated. A good way of life will be

formed. The Lord that is worshipped by Gayatri mantra is Sri Rama. The

mantra that meditates on Sri Rama is Sri Ramayanam.

 

People chant Gayatri Mantra to diminish their attitude to do wrong

things. To make it available to all people Sage Narada had made him

write Ramayana inserting those twenty four letters in twenty four

thousand slokas by keeping one letter in every thousand slokas.

 

Thus he blessed the mankind. The gain one receives from Gayatri mantra

can be achieved from SriRamayanam. The thought of distinction in us

should be destroyed and the capacity to witness Bhagavan as the a:thma

in everything should be cultivated. For that one should realize the

‘Ka:rana Thathvam’. Once it is known then the differences in ‘Ka:ryams’

that evolve from this Karana thathvam would not give rise to love or

hatred. Though there is difference in shape and name, the knowledge of

the presence of single karanathathvam in every thing would provide the

vision and realization of ‘ekathva’in diverse things. This is produced

by Gayathri mantra. This results from reading Ramayana. Thus to gift the

world the king of mantra with authority Sage Narada instructed Ramayana

briefly to Bhagavan Valmiki.
