Guest guest
Srimathe Ramanujayanamaha! Jeeyar Thiruvadigale Saranam!! Naturally a:thma - like a wife- is loyal to Bhagavan, under His control as His property, performs every activity for enhancing his glory. As Sithadevi is to Sri Rama, a:thma is to the parama:thma. It is ‘parathanthra’ to ‘parama:thma’ and obedient to him. The mean and crooked Ravana imprisoned such athma. Bhagavan Sri Rama had put an end to such crooked 'manas' and established the sathvam dominated 'manas' like Vibheeshana in the rule. Doing mangala:Sa:sana to Bhagavan who had rendered such great help is the ‘tatva:rdha’ of this sloka. Thus - not just with the literary meaning - but with the hidden, secret, in depth meaning – this sloka has become the first sloka of Sri Ramayanam. Since Valmiki had written such a sloka with words that construe the two meanings - he had been referred as ‘cuckoo’ and ‘lion’. He is the ‘kavi-ko:kila’. He is the ‘muni - simham’. A kavi utters sweet sounds like a ‘cuckoo’. One who hands over sweet meanings mingled with words is kavi. Since in Sri Ramayanam there is sweetness in ‘Sabda’ and ‘artha’, Valmiki has been referred as ‘Ko:kila’. (In the next posting …) Jai Srimannarayana!
