Vedam and Prabhandham classes at SrI RanganAtha temple , NY

Dear BhakthAs:

 

It is my pleasure to let you know that

SrI RanganAthA Temple will be initiating

the Veda and Dhivya prabhandham classes

at the temple starting from 1-24-2003.

 

 

0n 1-24-2003, Anadhyanam ( not doing Prabandha

Parayanam) will be over.

 

The second day after New-moon day, 2-3-2003 will be a good day; as per our

priests; to start Vedam and Prabandham classes.

 

Our priests, Sri Varadan and Sri Rajagopal will be conducting

the classes at our Temple.

 

Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 7 to 8 PM : Vedam ( Daily Sandhyavandanam

performance is a prerequisite for attendance ).

 

Tuesday and Thursday: 7 to 8 PM : Divya Prabandham.( No Prerequisites).

 

We have not yet decided on the Telebridge classes .

We will come back on that possibility later.

 

Meanwhile , those with in the driving distance of

the temple are requested to particpate and make use of

this outstanding opportunity.

 

Back at SrIrangam , there is a PaarAyaNa Samithi

exclusively for Achidram , AswamEdham and Kaatakam

on EkAdasi and DwAdasi days as recommeded by our

AchAryAs. This tradition of chanting these Vedic Texts

by the Samithi is an ancient one .

 

Achidram means faultless or blemishless and this portion of

the VedAs has very important manthrAs relating to Soma Yaaga

and PrAyascchittha manthrAs for the atonement of sins through

the mere chanting of this Vedic text .

 

AswamEdham is connected with an ancient Yaj~nam performed

for the well being of the world and for unity amongst people.

Lord Ramachandra and Chathur Mukha Brahma (at Kaanchi) have

performed this Yaj~nam with the help of the AswamEdha

Vedha manthrams . The subhiksham of the people at large

is sought as a goal. The recitation of these manthrAs is

considered as having the same effect as the performance of

the long and complex Yaj~nam.

 

Kaatakam houses prayers , which are addressed to

SrIman NaarAyaNan for acheving the twin goals of

the general welfare of thepeople and the expiation of one's

accumulated sins.

 

We hope to have the recitation of these three Vedic

Texts in the future at the SrI RanganAthA Temple

at Pomonoa , NY following the tradition of

SrIrangam Temple .

 

At SrIrangam , 45 Vedic Pundits take part in these recitations

sponsored by the Achidhra ,AswamEdha , Kaataka PaarAyana

Samithi located at 134 N. Chithrai Veedhi , Srirangam ,

Trichy 620 006 .The phone number of the samithi is

433 941. Due to paucity of funds to honor the Vedic

Pundits properly , the Samithi is only doing the parAyaNam

once a month instead of twice ( 26 Ekadasi and DwAdasi days

of the 12 Months ). Please check with the Samithi office

and attend these wonderful PaarAyaNams , if you happen to

be at SrIrangam on those days. You can hear them also

at the Ahobila matam regularly on the Ekadadi and Dwadasi

days). I just recieved an audio CD ROM of these three

recitations today from Bangalore and these Vedic chantings

have a mesmerizing effect on the mind.
