forward before him. His strength of radiance should be such that enemy kings

should be afraid to face him like the eyes that fear to gaze at the midday

sun of midsummer.

folks. He should be impartial in providing comforts and amenities to his

subjects. As all the sons are lovable to their father alike, so also the

king should not discriminate between his rural subjects and the city

dwellers.

> 6. A king has to perform yajna:s to appease the celestials and invoke

their blessings for the good of the people and to attain the 'paralo:ka'.

One can not rule the kingdom with just one's own caliber. He needs Lord's

strength. With the available resources we have to please the devathas and -

with the benefits and prosperity they bless us with - we have to be

satisfied. For this reason a king should perform yajna:s.

> 7.He should be interested in righteous practices. It's his duty to strive

to provide the necessary amenities like the drinking water ponds and

orchards for the welfare of his subjects.
