Speakers, at a function here on Friday, called upon people to rise above differences of religion and caste and lead a life based on the principle of humanism. Hindu philosophy, which was ever-relevant, stood for equal treatment of the people, the speakers said. P.R. Gokulakrishnan, former Chief Justice, said the country would be free of problems if the people followed the essential features of the Hindu philosophy. Melkote Yathiraja Sampath Kumara Ramanuja Jeer, who released an English publication on judicial solutions to temple disputes, said people should preserve the ancient Hindu culture. Mr. Gokulakrishnan received the first copy. Kundrakudi Ponnambala Adigal, who released a Tamil publication, said scriptures of Saivism and Vaishnavism contained lofty principles. The former Supreme Court judge, K. Venkataswami, commended the author, T.S. Ramaswamy, for his works. The Madras High Court judge, Prabha Sridevan; the president, Madras Bar Association, R. Gandhi and the head, Vaishnavism department, Madras University, V.K.S.N.
