Guest guest
Dear Devotees, Jai Srimannarayana! In the Dra:vida Calendar, today is the ascent of the star Chithra during the month of Chaithra, which marks the occassion of the birthday of Sri Madhuri Kavi A:lwa:r, one of the twelve great mystics that brought forth the 4000 sacred verses that are known as Na:la:yira Divya Prabhandam. Sri Madhura Kavi has contributed only 10 verses to this set, but they are extremely important among followers of Bhagavad Sri: Ra:ma:nuja. For unlike the works of the other eleven mystics, this simple set of verses, called collectively as Kanninun Siruttha:mbu - " The Short-knotted Rope " is not dedicated to Sri:man Na:ra:yana, but rather Madhura Kavi's A:cha:rya, the foremost among the A:lwa:rs and the only one who is also recognized to be a part of our lineage of Teachers, Namma:lwa:r - whose name simply means " Our A:lwa:r " . Madhura Kavi's dedication to his Spiritual Teacher, even over and above God, serves as one of the core fundamental principles of Sri: Vai:shnava belief. Because, it is only the A:cha:rya that can bring the right wisdom to make us lead a good life. So, we pray for his welfare and serve him such that he can be always be there, bringing Good to the whole world. Please take some time today to reflect on this great A:lwa:r and his illustrious Guru.
