Guest guest
Dear all,In pUrva dinacharyA, Sri dEvarAja guru says:mantrarantnAnusandhAna santata sphuritAdharamtadartha tattva nidhyAna sannadha pulakOdgamamwhich means: His lips were moving as if he was doing anusandhAnam of dwayam. Also he horripilates as he is meditating on its meaning. The former line of the verse is widely misinterpreted as Manavala Mamunigal reciting japam.anusandhAnam means investigation, inquiry, congruous connection etc. according to Monnier Williams dictionary put at sripedia.org.North Indians use anusandhAnam in the sense of research. Hence many our national research centres are "anusandhAn kEndra"s. In Andhra, it is used in the latter sense i.e. connection. Hence in Telugu newspapers, we read that the computers or some other electronic devices are up-linked to the upagraham (satellite). So anusandhAnam does not mean recitation at all! Then what was the jeeyar doing? The answer is simple. He was probing into its meaning, thus connceting Himself with the supreme! So both the meanings are apt. This is clear from the second line which says "tadartha tattva nidhyAna...".His lips were moving as He was doing vAzhvinai or rememberance of Srisooktis of His pUrvAchAryas.jIyar thiruvadihaLE SaraNamVishnu
