Guest guest
SIGNIFICANCE OF THEERTHAM IN TEMPLEShave YOU wondered as to why the priest in the temple offerstheertham (scantfied water) in his small spoon to the devotee?s cupped palm three times in succession. Why? Once is not enough? I gather theertha should be served three times chanting a mantra each time. The first time it is served, the priest will say Sarva vyadhi nivaranam(let all your ailments be cured), second time he will say Sarva dukhashamanam (let all your sorrows be annhilated) and the third time he willsay aAkhla mruthyu haranam (may the untimely death escape you). Guest guest
I have heard the manthram as follows: " Akaala mrthyu haraNam, Sarva vyaadhi nivaaraNam, samastha paapakashayakaram, VaruNa/Manthra paadho'dhakam shubham| " Which one is authentic? Srinivasan *** They are slokams not vedham, any meaningful slokam can be used in place. nvs
