Greatness of Guru-6

Excerpts from Swamiji’s discourse:

 

Govardhan and his wife were living in a small village.

One day, a sadhu by name Vishnudasar visited their

house. The Sadhu was always chanting the Baghavan Nama

or used to talk only about the leelas of Krishna. On

hearing these discourses Govardhan was very much

pleased and requested the Sadhu’s to stay in his house

for some time and in order to full fill his wishes the

Sadhu stayed in his house for a month. After a month

the Sadhu one day proceeded to Brindavan.

 

Govardhan was very much depressed in Sadhu leaving

them.

In course of time due to fate, he started to associate

with bad company spending in consuming liquor,

gambling and went to the extent of assaulting his wife

and also frequented to have sex with the prostitutes.

 

Years passed by and his wife’s life was becoming very

very miserable and one day she thought about the

sadhu. To her surprise, the Sadhu came one day and

knocked the door and asked her about the whereabouts

of her husband Govardhan.

 

Tears in her eyes, she replied , that by now he will

be with the prostitute in her house and also told

Sadhu about his change for bad. Sadhu immediately

rushed to the house where Govardhan was lying and

called him. Govardhan on hearing the voice of the

Sadhu came rushing and prostrated to his feet and

started to cry “Guru Maharaj! Please forgive me! I do

not know what prompted me to behave like this; Please

bless and be with me and guide me on the right path ;

"

 

Sadhu said, “Govardhana, getting a Human form is

rarest and the very purpose of life is to attain the

feet of god; for which you need to always chant

Baghavan Nama ,always think of the holiness of

Sri.Krishna, listen to his katha , spend your time in

satsang and by doing these virtuous acts your sins

will vanish "

 

Due to the Darshan of Sadhu & his blessing,

Govardhan’s life style then on changed & always

started chanting Baghavan Nama

 

Moral: If a person after having the Darshan of a Guru,

happened to associate with bad habits and friends,

Guru will voluntarily interfere in his life and bring

back that person to his fold. Such is the greatness of

guru.

 

I would like to quote my experience in this forum.

 

On May 10th 2003 I had the 1st Darshan of my Guru and

prostrated with great difficulty in the midst of the

huge crowd gathered in Canara Union Malleshwaram . He

had come to preside the Samrajya Patabhiskekam which

started on 9th till 17th. Though I was very ignorant

and as a normal human being had all the craving for

materialist comforts in life. I did not have any idea

of what Guru is, our purpose of birth and so on, and

also mentally thought why I prostrated to him and

thought that he also looks like an ordinary human

being and there was nothing great to call him Guru.

 

After 15-30 min, I left the place. Though I left the

place physically, mentally I could not forget him and

then on all week days without any resistance in me, I

used to have his darshan in the mornings, prostrate

and leave for office. Not even once neither he spoke

to me nor I was inquisitive to talk to him, but

unknowingly a Love for him started to develop in me.

On 14th morning as usual when I had been to the venue,

there were a large gathering in the hall and everybody

were doing Ramayana parayanam, It was very difficult

to go near the stage where my Guru was seated.

Thinking to myself, today I cannot prostrate and

almost 25 feet away from the stage I started to see

him, Our Guruji who was also doing the parayanam

stopped reading and glanced the crowd and also saw me.

 

 

I was as usual looking at him but for the 1st time I

noticed that he was not only looking at me but

starring at me from Head to Toe for almost a minute, I

could not with stand that eye contact and bowed down

and suddenly I could see by body shaking for more

than 5-10 seconds without any effort of mine . Later

when I was listening to his discourse series of

Aksharamalarmalai cassettes that I understood that

Guru can bless through Naina and sparsha deeksha and I

was fortunate to be a recipient of his blessings which

made me understand his greatness and more importantly

after his deeksha it was a surprise that my great love

for Drinking, chewing Manichand were dead after that,

which was otherwise a nightmare to my family members.
