Mandugam Story

Dear Members,

 

Once when Lord.Krishna and Arjuna were on their way to

Hastinapur, they saw few Shiva Ganas (Siva dudhas)

carrying hand full of vilvas marching towards Kailash.

Arjuna asked, “krishna, who is offering these vilvas

to Lord Shiva, I would like to see the holy person who

is offering these vilvas "

 

Lord.Krishna replied, “these vilvas were offered by

your brother Bhima. Ajuna wondered and when he was

talking with Bhima, he told that Lord.Krishna was

praising very high on your Shiva bhakthi.

 

The purpose of we doing poojas is only to surrender

our EGO and similarly Bhima Instead of being humble in

doing Shiva Pooja started to boast to everybody about

his Shiva pooja since Lord.Krishna praised him .( with

garva)

 

Lord.Krishna on knowing this advised Bhima. But since

his Ego was masking his humbleness, Sri.Krishna wanted

to symbolically teach Bhima and asked Bhima to prepare

hot water for his bath. Bhima filled the vessel full

of water & lighted fire . After 1 hr Bhima found out

that the water was not hot and was cold as it was

initially. Hours went!!! None of Bhima’s startergy

worked and the water temp was the same.

 

SriKrishna asked Bhima, " what is happening and I am

still to receive the hot water? "

 

Bhima replied, " Krishna , I do not understand why the

water is not boiling inspite of all the necessary fire

around.

 

Lord.Krishna asked, “Bhima, is there anything inside

the vessel "

 

Bhima found one frog (mandugam) inside the vessel and

took it out.

 

Sri.Krishna said, " Bhima (mandugamey ! ! ), this frog

all the time was telling my name and due to this only

the water was not boiling. Krishna further said that

who ever is chanting my name, it is my duty to safe

guard them irrespective of the forms and hence Bhima

don’t boast about your performing of pooja’s . Bhima

realized his mistake and apologized to Krishna .

 

Moral: Even if a frog (mandugam) can escape from its

problem if its chant the name of Sri.Krishna, just

imagine, if we the superiors of all forms chant his

name?

 

Hence please chant Baghavan Nama and be happy.

 

Chant the Mahamantra Nama kirtan :

 

Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
