It stands for jagad rakshaNa chintanam as they say "pazhudil thol puhazh pAmbaNai-p-paLLiyAy". Adi Sesha means the formeost subservient being, and He also serves Him as simhAsanam when He sits, pAdukAs as He walks etc.. This stands for Lord's ability to use the jIva in any way He wants. I doubt whether shatchakras, ashta siddhis etc. really exist. Also immortality is not possible as KrshNa says "jAtasya hi dhurvO mrtyu:". As you know, part of our daily practice involves the recitation of " sendrAl kudiyAm... " during mantra pushpam. Why do we recite it before the Lord. To express the effort He takes to protect the jIva. Yes, He can use His Universe for whatever He pleases, but it is His Compassion that is the Greatest of His Qualities.
