366. viksharaH

 

vigathaH kasharaath ithi. Kshara means decay. The Lord viskshara because He is immutable. Also His love for His devotees never decreases.

 

367. rohithaH

 

ruh means to grow.RohithaH refers to His manifestation as the universe.Rohitha also means the red colour of the inside of a lotus. The Lord has eyes, hands, feet like lotus and sports a lotus in His navel and also holds a lotus in His hand. So He himself is referred to as having the colour of a lotus.The word rohitha also means a kind of fish and hence this nama also implies mathsyavathara.

 

368. maargaH

 

maargyathe ithi maargaH. He is sought after. He is also the marga or the path to attain Himself as He is the upaaya and upeya, means and the goal.

 

369. hethuH

 

The Lord is the hethu, the cause of everything.

 

370. dhaamodharaH

 

dhaama means rope, world etc. The Lord has in his udhara, stomach, all the worlds. udhare dhaamaani asya asthi ithi. He is called dhamodhara also because he got bound on the stomach with rope by his mother. udhare dhaama yasya. As dhama also means inner control, dhamodhara means that He is known by the mind when purified. Dhamaadhi saaDhanena udhaaraa, uthkrshtaa mathiH; thayaa gamyathe.

 

371. sahaH

 

sarvaan kshamatha- bears or tolerates everything. He bore it patiently when His mother tied Him with the rope, He tolerates the faults of His devotees and even foes as shown in the episode of Sisupala when He was patient till Sisupala hurled abuses at Him until they numbered to 100 as promised earlier to the mother of Sisupala.

 

372. maheeDharaH

 

Maheem Dharathi ithi. He bears the burden of the earth in the form of mountains. vanaani vishNur girayo diSaScha ( Vishnupurana) which means that Vishnu is the forest, mountain and directions.

 

373. mahaabhaagaH

 

He gets the major portion of all offerings.

 

374. vegavaan

 

The Upanishad says, anejadhekam mansao javeeyaH (Isa.Up.)

 

He is swifter than the mind both in protection as well as in punishment. Srimadbhagavatham says that Krishna reached kuntinapura from Dvaraka in just one night to mary Rukmini, which was unimaginable in those days. His quickness in rushing to save Gajendra is also described as the Lord ran with Garuda tagging along.In Krishnavathara the killing of all the asuras sent by Kamsa was insatantaneous.

 

375. amithaasanaH

 

na mitham amitham, immeasurable or large quantity. Krishna ate the whole food laid out for the govardhana puja taking the form of the devata of the mountain Govardhana. Periazvar says,

 

aTTuk-kuvi SOtRup-paruppadamum thayir

vaaviyum neyyaLarum aDangap poTTatthutRu

 

Krshna ate in a minute all the mounds of cooked rice that was like a mountain, all the curd that lookedlike a lake and the ghee running like a river.

 

He is also amithaasana since He devoured all the worlds at the time of annihilation.
