Guest guest
yaThaa soumya maDhu maDhukrthaH nisthishTanthinaanaathyayaanaam vrkshaaNaamrasaan samahaaram ekathaa rasam gamayanthi, Just as, my boy, the bees, madhukrthaH, collecting, samavahaaram, the essence of honey, maDhurasaan, from various trees, nanaathyayaanaam vrkshaaNaam, and make, nisthishTanthi, them into one, ekathaa gamayanthi, The thaThaa thathra na vivekam labhanthe amushya aham vrkshasya rasaH asmi , amushya aham vrkshasya rasaH asmi, ithi, They (honey collected thus) do not have discrimination that I am from this tree, I am from this tree, etc., evam eva khalu soumya imaaH sarvaaH prajaah sathisampaadhya na vidhuH sathi sampadhyaamahe ithi. So too all these creatures having merged in the Being, do not know that they have merged into it. The meaning is as follows. When the bees collect juices from different flowers in different trees when it is made into honey they lose their individual identity and do not show their difference. Similarly in deep sleep or death or during cosmic dissolution the individual beings lose their identity and merge into the infinite but they are not aware if it. This is proved by the next passage. Tha iha vyaaghro vaa simho vaa vrko vaa varaaho vaa keeto vaa pathango vaa dhamSo vaama Sako vaa yath yath bhavanthi thath aa bhavanthi Whatever the creatures are before merging, a tiger, a lion, a wolf, a boar, a worm, a moth, an insect or an mosquito, they become the same again. Just because the creatures are no aware that they have merged into the Absolute, when they awake from deep sleep, or when they are reborn or when the creation starts again after dissolution they assume their original identity, with their past tendencies in tact. During pralaya unless the individual beings attain salvation when they are not born again, the subtle impressions known as vasanas persist and they take the for according to their karma to be exhausted. This does not mean that a tiger will again be born as a tiger only, similarly a man need not have a human birth but the real meaning is, in every creation a tiger is a tiger and a lion is a lion, and they retain their characteristics. Sa ya esho aNimaa ethath aathmyam idham sarvam That Being (into which one merges in deep sleep) is this Self which is subtle essence ( first cause) and all this world has it as the inner self. thath sathyam sa aathmaa That is the truth. That is the Self. thath thvam asi svethaketho That thou art Svethakethu ithi (Thus said the father.) bhooya eva maa bhagavan vijnaapayathu ithi (The son said ) please sir, tell me again. thaThaa soumya ithi hovacha Saying " alright my dear boy," he spoke again.
