Guest guest
Dear Diwakar swamy, It is heart breaking to read your mail in SV-general, regarding the status of our beloved perumals, thayars and the bhattars who are taking care of our beloved ones in the various divyadesams. Tears rolled out of adiyen's eyes on seeing your mail. Adiyen had a similar experience in Nathan Koil divyadesam in the past. As per the shastras, whenever we go to any temple or to meet an acharyan, we should never go empty handed. We should go alteast with some flowers/fruits etc. But what a sorry state, that the loka nayagan and nayagi are in such a poor state that, mere fruits and flowers wont suffice. They expect something more from their children. Is it not our responsibilty to fulfil our parents? It is our earnest duty that we should see them in a happy frame of mind. Adiyen has a sincere request to make to all the saha baagavatas, who will be visiting divyadesams in the future. Let us make it a point that, whenever we visit any divyadesam in the future, which is in poor state of affairs, let us all go prepared with the following items. 1. Vastarams for various sannadhis (dhothis it can be 10 X 6) 2. utthriyams (it can be some 5 X 4 dhotis) 3. vastarams for thayars 4. sufficient quantity of Oil (for lighting lamps) 5. Sufficient quantity of thiris (for lighting lamps) 6. Get some broom sticks from the local market where the temple is, so that we ourselves can clean the prakarams 7. Bag of rice 8. Some other spices 9. Ghee 10. Reasonable amount of cash, to be given to bhattars. Adiyen has just produced the list on the fly, whatever came to adiyens mind. It is left to the discretion of the individual bhavatas to take something additional in sufficient quantities. So, please make it a point that never go empty handed. Its adiyens humble request. Azhwar Emperumaanar Jeeyar thiruvadigale saranam, Adiyen Ramanuja Dasan, Varadarajan Diwakar Kannan Thu, 1 Aug 2002 06:49:31 -0700 (PDT) [sv-general] Koodalur and kapisthalam Dear bhagavathas adiyEn is really pained to see Smt. Jayashree Saranathan's mail about about Koodalur and Kapisthalam divya desams. During my recent trip to India visited these DDs and cried seeing Sri Jagathratshaka perumAL. Not even a dry flower on the Thirumeni of the perumAL. Heard from the bhattar that he is paid Rs. 130 by the govt. He comes from another village called Ganapathi agraharam and the so called salary will not even cover the bus charge. There are no lights, not even in the madapalli and I have made arrangements to do some basic electrification work, which will be completed soon. State of affairs at Kapisthalam is no better. Bhattar's salary is Rs. 17 and he has not received it for so many years now. It seems the temple is under some private trust and due to litigation nobody takes care of the temple. After a lots of hesitation bhattar asked us to get some vasthram for Thayar. Bhattar said, " neenga swaroopama vandurukel, adunAla kEkarEn, thAyArukku vasthram vAngi thara mudiyuma " . How can I not oblige when the lOka nAyaki doesn't have vasthram! I believe the role of HR & CE in temple management was dicussed with great passion in these lists before. The least we can do is to support organizations involved in arranging daily thiruvArAdhanam in these temples. Also please visit these divya dEsams at the earliest opportunity.
