Text: " pirindha thunbak kadal kadathum vishnu bhOdha Anrusamsyam,nAvAyilE nizhal

ezhum "

Summary: Ardent devotees who are suffering owing to separation from the lord are

helped by the lord himself like a ship which crosses the ocean analogous to

crossing the ocean of suffering.

In the previous ten pAsurams of thiru mOzhikkaLam, AzhwAr describes the state of

despair reached due to the separation. The same is also mentioned by AndAL in

nAchiyAr thirumozhi 5-4 " anbudaiyArai pirivuru nOI adhu nEyum aridhi kuyilE " and

" thunbak kadal pukku govindhan enbadhOr thOni perAdhu vuzhalginrEan " stating that

I am suffering from separation as I have not got the shp-Lord- to cross the sea

of suffering.

nAvAi refers to a ship/boat. Since, the Lord is like ship to cross the

difficulties, this dhivya dhEsam is termed as thiru nAvAi.

and his blessing on his devotees is referred here as Anrusamsyam -blessing on

devotees- adiyArukku aruL.
