Guest guest
Sri Parthasarathi thunai Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha Sri Vara Vara MunayE Namaha SrisailEsa dayA pAthram deebhakthyAdhi gunArnavam Yateendra pravanam vandhE ramyajAmataram munim In this posting let us continue to see how mAmunigal regards madurakavigal’s words (“MADURAKAVI SOL PADIYE NILAYAGA PETTROM”) In the fifth paasuram of kaninun siruthAmbhu madurakavigal, laments for going at the back of other wealth and for believing others to be his relatives and friends and then says, but today I know that only mAran saTakOpan thirukkurugoor nambi is my sole refuge. Mamunigal in AP-16 says, “I do wrong things inspite of knowing that it is not right still I believe in it and hence I teach the same to others too, but Oh! Ethiraja please don’t refuse me thinking me to be bad. When will you accept me under your divine feet?” Madurakavigal talks all in past tense since he has already attained nammazhvar’s grace (since madurakavigal was in service of nammazhvar when he sang this prabhandam) but mAmunigal laments considering that he is yet to attain the divine feet of emperumAnAr (since the avataram of mAmunigal was far later than ethirajar and hence he could attain his kainkaryam only when he goes to paramapadam after shedding this body). But in AP-28, mAmunigal says, earlier I used to write rubbish and teach the same to others and never had the idea of shedding this body and reaching the divine abode of emperuman but now do to the divine grace of ethirajar my mind always meditates about the nithya vibhuti, Srivaikundam only. In the sixth paasuram, madurakavigal says now that I have attained the divine service of my master, he has blessed me with the capacity to sing his praise always and for sure my master will never ignore me from now on. In AP-51 mAmunigal says, till today the days have passes in vain due to my fate and I haven’t even felt for it but after I have received your grace Oh! Ethiraja, my mind will always keep meditating day in and day out (“endrulaneesanum vuyirum andrE yundikkAlmellAm endralavAgap pazhudhE kazhindha thiruvinaiyAl* endrizhavindri erukku mennenjam eravu pagal nindru thavikkum * ethirAsA! Nee arul seidha pinnE”) In the seventh paasuram, madurakavigal says, KarimAra piran, Sri nammAzhvar saw me and due to his grace burnt all my sins accumulated for so many years. I will spread the greatness of nammAzhvar in all the directions. In AP-49 mAmunigal reflects the same. Madurakavigal said he would spread nammAzhvar’s fame in all directions, mAmunigal advises the masses saying, “Oh! People of this world, if you are interested in not going to hell then fall into the divine feet of my master, ethirajar. Always keep saying his praises and join the bhagavatas who have also fallen to his feet and stay along with them and then you will surely attain moksha” (“nandA narakath thazhunthAmai vEndidil nAnilaththeer!* enthAthaiyAna ethirAsarai nannum*endrumavan andhAdhi thannai anusanthiyum avan thondarudan* sindAkulam keta sErdhirum muththi pin siththikkumE”). Mamunigal continues to advise the people in the next paasuram also saying, “ Oh! My fellow people you spend your time in useless ways and due to ignorance are put to misery of life and death. I will tell you a easy method to get out of this which is not obtained even by yogis who are struggling for so many years- Think the greatness of Ethiraja!” In the eighth paasuram, madurakavigal says, Nammazhvar is full of grace. Due to his mercy he gave the essence of Vedas in tamil and made all the bhagavatas happy. Due to his divine grace he gave us the 1000 sweet tamil paasurams. There is no other grace greater than this. Mamunigal says about the mercy of ethirajar in many places. In one paasuram (AP-26) he says, even nammazhvar who showers his mercy on everyone cannot forgive my sins due to the enormous amount of mistakes I have committed but only due to the divine grace of ethirajar I can be blessed with the divine abode of emperuman. In the ninth paasuram, madurakavigal says, Nammazhvar is solely responsible to put all the divine arthas given by the vedas into my mind and hence I will always remain at his service. Mamunigal is not worried about any vedic arthas or Vedanta. He says his mind is filled with only one thing that is ethirajar, that too due to the nirheduka krupai of ethirajar. (AP-25 “endru nirAdukamAga ennai abhimAniththu yAnum arindhunakkE yAyirukkum vakai seidhAi”). It is very difficult for us to reach the level of madurkavigal since we can never get his atmost vishvasam since our vasanas always pull us towards this world. But mAmunigal has shown a way possible for us though at the depth, his mind circled around the words of madura kavigal only. In the tenth paasuram, madurakavigal says, that nammazhvar is capable to correct the mistakes of anyone and bring him to the right path and hence I am praying for the love in that divine feet of azhvar. Mamunigal says, “Can anyone commit more mistakes than me and can anyone be more tolerant than ethirajar Oh ethiraja! You have taken avataram to lift one and all so shower your mercy on this poor” AP-41 (“enaippOl pizhai seivAr evvulagil vundO* vunai pOl porukka vallAr vundO?*- anaiththulagum vAzha pirandha ethirAsa mAmunivA!* AzhaikkirangA eni”) In the last paasuram madurakavigal concludes saying that Nammazhvar is sweet to those who consider him sweet and fall to his feet and I am, madurakavi, liked by that nammazhvar, has told this prabandam. Who ever reads this with belief will surely reach the divine abode of emperuman. Mamunigal completes his prabhandam saying,”endha arangaththu enithirunee endru arangar endhai ethirAsarkku Eindha varam sindhaiseiyil nammathandrO nenjamE nattrAdhai som pudalvar thamma thandrO thAyamurai thAn”. Madurakavigal assured moksha if one reads his prabhandam. But mAmunigal shows us a proof that all Ramanuja sambhandis are assured moksha. What’s the proof? Ranganatha gave ramanuja a boon, “Stay in Srirangam happily”. If we think a little bit, whatever wealth a father has will automatically go to his son after his father. Ethirajar is our father so all his wealth should come to us. What is the wealth ethirajar had? He had the kainkarya sri (the wealth of doing service to emperuman). So we are all blessed to get the kainkarya sri as a paternal wealth says mAmunigal and completes his prabandham. Ethirajar is otherwise called udaiyavar since he had the vubhaya vibhuti under his control. So we, the kids of ethirajar is sure to get the kainkarya sri in this world and that world too after shedding this body. --\ ---------------------------- We Srivaishnavas have one another never exhaustible wealth.
