Swamy’s kainkaryams (contd.)

As the days passed swamy wanting to have the darshan of soodikoduththa

sudarkodi, along with all his shisyas went to srivilliputtur to do

mangalasAsanams to andal and halted in the kannan temple in the outskirts of the

city. Coming to know about the arrival of swamy the people in the service of

andal in the temple informed the same in front of nachiyar and according to her

order, went to welcome swamy with thirumalai, parivattam and other honours

accompanied by divine instruments and number of srivaishnavas.

Swamy prostrated the andal ghosti (group of srivaishnavas devoted to the divine

service to andal) and accepted the honours humbly. Then amidst the sound of the

divine instruments swamy then came round the divine streets of srivilliputtur

and entered the temple and prostrated infront of the dwajasthambham. Meanwhile

andal sent her srisadagopan to welcome satakOpa jeeyer swamy. Jeeyer swamy

accepted the same with great regards and then proceeded inside. Then swamy had

the great darshan of andal and rangamannar and did his heart felt

mangalAsAsanams to the divine couples. Pleased by the same the divine couples

blessed jeeyer with their thirumAlai thiruparivattam, abhaya hastham,

srisatagopam and prasadams. Then swamy bid goodbye and proceeded to

vadaperunkoiludaiyAn sannadhi and did mangalasasanams to perumal followed by

mangalAsAsanams to periyAzhvar. Then swamy proceeded back to his mutt after

receiving all the honours done at the sannadhi.

In this way swamy stayed there for some more days doing mangalasasanams while

one day swamy wanted to have darshan of rAjamannar and hence got permission from

andal for the same and proceeded towards that place. Swamy reached the banks of

kaveri (haridra river, a river which has originally separated from kaveri), took

his bath and finished the appropriate rites (anushtanams) and reached

rAjamannar’s punnaivAhana thirumandapam.

Coming to know about swamy’s arrival rajamannar sent his kainkaryaparas

(srivaishnavas under his service) to welcome swamy along with perumal’s

thirumAlai, vuduththukalaindha peedhagavAdai (divine clothes earlier worn by

perumal) and abhaya hastham (hand symbol of emperuman which shows that he is the

saviour) in a grand manner amidst the sound of divine instruments. Seeing the

srivaishnavas carrying perumal’s prasAdams jeeyer fell to the ground and did

sAshtAnga pranAmams (prostration with 8 parts of the body touching the ground).

The archargar from mannar sannadhi took the twin mAlai and garlanded swamy and

then proceeded to honour swamy with perumal’s thiruparivattam and prasAdams in

the usual manner. Swamy accepted them humbly and then boarded a palanquin made

of ivory and amidst the sound of divine instruments being played went round the

raja veedhis (main streets) and reached the front entrance to the sannadhi.

After coming round the four major streets swamy entered the temple and

prostrated in front of the balipeedam.

Meanwhile mannar pleased with the arrival of swamy (“kudi adiyArivar gOvindan

thanakkendru”) sent his srisadakOpan in the hands of the archakar

(thirukaithalaththil) to welcome swamy as per azhvar’s paasuram “mudiyudai

vAnavar muraimurai edhirkolla”. Jeeyer swamy prostrated the perumal’s divine

feet in thirukkaiththalam and accepted the SrisadakOpan on his head with great

pleasure and then proceeded inside to the nachiyar sannadhi. There swamy had

the divine darshan of senkamalavalli nAchiyar and did mangalAsAsanams to

nachiyar. Pleased with swamy’s mangalAsAsanams nachiyar blessed him with her

theertham, thirumAlai, abhayahastham and prasAdams. After getting the

purushakAram of thayar swamy then proceeded to do mangalAsAsanams to rajamannar.

Mannar welcomed swamy with the arulappAdu “Vanamamalai rAmAnuja Jeeyer” and

blessed swamy with his thirumalai, thiruparivattam and other prasAdams. Swamy

accepted the same with great pleasure and then came out of the sannadhi and did

mangalAsAsanams to mAmunigal, Azhvar, udaiyavar and others and then returned

back to the mutt. There swamy sat in koormAsanam and honoured all the

srivaishnavas belonging to the sannadhi with sattupadi and adaikkAi. Later

swamy did pancha samskAram to all those who were interested and also enriched

them with the rahasyArthams. Then swamy did dhadheeyArAdhanam to srivaishnavas

and gave good advices to even to those who remained indifferent. In the evening

swamy finished his anushtAnams (daily rituals) while some vaishnavas from mannar

sannadhi came in front of swamy and invited him for mannar’s darshan.
