Swamy’s kainkaryams (Contd.)

While swamy was in the thought of doing a divya desa yathra, at the same time

some shisyas came with request letters from many shisyas in various places and

also personally requested swamy to grace adiyars from sethu to Himalayas and

bless them with his sripada theertham. Swamy was happy with the coincidence of

his thoughts and the wishes of his disciples and hence ordered for the

preparations necessary for the yathra.

Then swamy submitted the proposal in the divine feet of the divya dampathis

(Srivaramangai samEtha Sri deivanAyakan). Perumal also happily blessed swamy

with special honours and bid goodbye. Swamy then along with his shishyas

started his journey towards north.

First swamy went to Srivilliputtur and did mangalasasanams to andal. Then with

her permission swamy proceeded towards Srirangam to have the divine darshan of

Ranganathan. On the way swamy did mangalasasanams to azhagar in

thirumAliruncholi, thirumOgoor kAlamEga perumal, thirukkOtiyur ari and

meiyamalaiyAn in thirumeiyam.

Swamy finally reached koil (Srirangam) and took a divine bath in the sacrad

river kAvEri (“gangayil punidhamAya kAviri). Swamy finished his anushtanams,

while the srivaishnavas from Arangan sannadhi came along with the archaka

parichArakas carrying the uduththukalaindha peedhagavAdi of perumal,

soodikalaintha thuzhAi mAlai, abhaya hastham and prasadams. Arayar, uththama

nambi and other srivaishnavas came along with the chatrasAmara honours and

amidst the sound of ashtAdasa instruments to welcome swamy. Swamy with joy on

seeing such a huge crowd of srivaishnavas prostrated them. Then, swamy was

honoured with parivattam, malai and prasadams of ranganathan. Then swamy sat on

the ivory palanquin and came round the streets of Srirangam and finally reached

the gopuravAsal (front entrance to the temple).

Swamy started his mangalasasanams with “devigOdhayethipathi” and in order had

the darshan of andal, EmperumAnAr and others and reached ranganathan sannadhi.

Emperuman sent his saTakOpan in the hands of the archakar to honour swamy.

Swamy prostrated and accepted the honour with pleasure (“thiruppolindha sEvadi

en senniyin mEl poriththAi”) and proceeded inside. Swamy then did

mangalasasanams to thiruvarangan lying on the divine serpant as per the

arulicheyals of Azhvars standing inbetween the thirumanathoon. Swamy enjoyed

reciting the paasurams of amalanAdhipiran and perumal thirumozhi about

ranganatha. Perumal with joy called “Vanamamalai rAmAnuja Jeeyer” and presented

him with his thiruparivattam, thirumAlai, Abhaya hastham which swamy accepted

with pleasure and then returned back to the mutt.
