" poliga poliga enRu pUmagaL kOne thondar

malivu thanaik kaNdugandhu vAzhthi, vulagil

thirundhAdhAr thammai thiruthiya mARan sol,

marundhAgap pOgum mana mAsu " 42

 

 

1.The pAsuram commences with the term " poliga " which is the first word of the

padhigam of thiru voi mozhi " poliga poliga poliga " 5-2 and this pAsuram also

commences with the term.

 

2.This pAsuram is representative of the thiru voi mozhi 5-2 of thiru voi mozhi

" poliga poliga poliga " . There all the souls of the world become the devotees of

Lord srEman nArAyaNA following swAmi nam AzhwAr's counsel. On seeing this AzhwAr

becomes extremely satisfied and this thiru voi mozhi emerges. He blesses this

utopian situation with the words -poliga, poliga, poliga. These are clear from

the fifth pAsuram

'aiyam onRillai, arakkar asurar piRandhEr vuLLErEal.. " . No doubt, there is no

way for demons to survive-if there are any. The tenth pAsuram reiterates this

point -thokka amarar kuzhAngaL engum parandhana thondEr.

 

The same fact is expressed here in this pAsuram. The terms " pUmagaL kOne thondar

malivu thanaik kaNdugandhu vAzhthi " indicates the vast srEvaishNavite clan

extant at that time.

The words 'poliga' and 'vAzhthi' expresses the happiness.

 

3. Both the pAsuram and the padhigam concludes with the word 'mAsu' which is the

beginning of the next padhigam 'mAsu aRu " 5-3 of thiru voi mozhi.

 

4. thiruthi mARAn sol -marundhAgap pOgum mana mAsu - is the reverence to swAmi

nam AZhwAr.
