Swamy’s kainkaryams contd.

While swamy stayed in seetharamapuram, swamy blessed many interested devotees

with panchasamskaram and his divine sripada theertham. Further swamy blessed

devotees with his excellent upanyasams and showed the right path to the confused

devotees and uplifted many. All the devotees over there were very happy to hear

the divine meanings showered on them by swamy and thereby they submitted lot of

gold, precious gems and costly clothes to the divine feet of swamy. Swamy

stayed there for some months and then after consoling the devotees, who felt

sorry to get separated from swamy, started his journey back to Vanamamalai.

On the way back, in the middle of krishnaveni and gOdavari swamy was deeply

honoured by wealthy persons over there and many Srivaishnavas. On the way swamy

visited veerapaththanam alias thOttavalloor where swamy was greatly honoured by

the chief of that place who submitted a number of precious gems and pattu

peedhAmbharams and huge amount of wealth to the divine feet of swamy. Then when

swamy reached sanivAra pettai, nAthan jeeyer who has been away from swamy for

the past two years came and prostrated swamy and stayed with swamy for some days

in order to get over his grief of staying away from swamy. Then nAthan jeeyer

got permission from swamy to go to bhakyapuram and have the darshan of charama

stalam of pattarbiran jeeyer swamy and then return back to Nathan koil. Then

kaliyan swamy continued his journey, stayed on the way as per the request of the

srivaishnavas and finally reached thirumalai to do mangalasasanams to

thiruvenkatamudaiyan.

Meanwhile, nAthan jeeyer who visited bhakyapuram and stayed there for some days

deciding to return back to Nathan koil on the way visited thirumalai to do

mangalasasanams to ‘minni mazhai thavazhum venkataththu viththagan’. Seeing

kaliyan swamy over there nAthan jeeyer was put to great surprise and ecstasy to

have had the great bhakyam of having the darshan of alarmEl mangai urai mArban

along with the purushakaram of his acharyan and thereby he fell to the feet of

swamy and did shAshtAnga pranamam and bursted out with his bhAkya vishEsham in

front of swamy.

Kaliyan swamy was even more elated like a father meeting his son who has been in

a far of country for many years. Thereby swamy visited first govindarajan in

the foothills of thirumalai along with nAthan jeeyer and then visited thayar

sannadhi (alarmEl mangai), did mangalasasanam and then climbed the thirumalai.

There swamy was greatly welcomed by thiruvenkatamudaiyan. Then swamy first had

the darshan of the thirugopuram and then in order swamy prostrated all the

divine places in thirumalai and along with his shisyas did mangalasasanams to

thiruvenkatavan. At that time, thiruvenkatamudaiyan honoured swamy and after

arulappadu said, “Jeeyer! While seeing you and nAthan jeeyer together today it

is like seeing Periya jeeyer and Vanamamalai jeeyer” and then honoured them with

thiruparivattam, theertham, SrisatakOpan and prasadams. After accepting them

humbly swamy bid goodbye and started his journey from thirumalai.

Then swamy visited bhoodhapuri and did mangalasasanams to Sri ethirajar and from

there proceeded to aththigiri and did mangalasasanams to all the surrounding

divya desams and proceeded to chola desam. There swamy had the divine darshan

of “kArAr puyarkai kalikandri” and then further did mangalasasanams to all other

divya desams while swamy lost strength in his body and hence swamy decided to

stay in Nathan koil for sometime and regain a little of his strength.

But unfortunately, swamy realized that even after a little stay in Nathan koil

his health only deteriorated and hence swamy was put to deep thought. Swamy

wanted to appoint the next follower to the peedam, an acharyan to take care of

the disciples after him. Swamy after deep thought decided that the right person

to follow would be Nathan jeeyer who was then taking care of the kainkaryams in

Nathan koil and one who has learnt all the ubhaya vedanthams from him. So swamy

called nAthan jeeyer and blessed him with the thirunAmam “madurakavi ramanuja

jeeyer” and made him the next successor.

In a very few days swamy’s health became very bad and with great Arthi swamy

requested madhurakavi swamy and the rest of the srivaishnavas to bless him with

the sripadatheertham with grace. “Can we adiyars do such a thing to the great

jagath swamy? Please don’t order us to do this?” begged the disciples.

Meanwhile kaliyan swamy meditated on the divine feet of pattarbiran swamy and

reached the divine abode of emperuman. In this way swamy followed the footsteps

of the poorvacharyas and remained in the peedam with a number of disciples for a

period of 14 years. Madhurakavi swamy who was deeply struck by grief due to the

separation from his acharyan slowly consoled himself and then completed the

final rites to swamy in the appropriate manner and also completed the

thiruadhyayanam filled with sraddhAbhakthi.
