Guest guest
Sri Parthasarathi thunai Srimathe Ramanujaya namaha Sri Vara Vara munaye Namaha Sri ILaiyAzhwAr Vaibhavam-16 Meanwhile, yadhava prakasa’s mother was largely attracted to our sampradayam due to the divine grace of pErarulAlan, the blessings of thirukachchi nambigal and ramanuja’s sweet speech. One day she was walking with the thought of making yadhava also join swamy ramanuja and his darshanam while she heard someone saying “Good! Good!” which she considered as a good sign and immediately went to her house and told the happenings and her wish to yadhava. “You also have a shikai, wear the yagyOpaveetham and undertake the thrithanda sanyasa, like rAmanuja” told yadhava’s mother. Yadhava prakasa remembered the greatness of ethiraja as shown by the brahmarakshas, the knowledge blooming interpretations of ethiraja, the way elaiyazhvar was saved by emperuman during the ganga yathra. Reciprocating all these, according to his mother’s words, yadhava accepted to take up the thrithanda sanyasa. But before that he had to do the prayaschittam (that which is done to beg pardon for the mistakes already committed), bhoopradhakshinam (coming around the world). But since he was old it was not possible for yadhava to do the bhoopradakshinam. So he didn’t know what to do. While yadhava remained with worry not knowing what to do pErarulAlan appeared in his dream and said, “Come around our ramanuja once and accept the thrithanda and kAshaya he gives and take up sanyasa”. But yadhava didn’t believe this dream. Instead he requested thirukkachchi nambigal to ask pErarulalan to clear his doubt and let him know the result. Similarly thirukkachchi nambigal requested perumal that night. Perarulan replied, “His mother asked him to take up thrithanda sanyasa like ramanuja. He was left with worry since he will be unable to do the prayaschittam, bhoopradhakshinam. So I told him in his dream to come around ramanuja once and accept thrithanda sanyasa. But not believing the same now he has sent you to me”. Thirukkachchi nambigal in the morning told yadhava what perumal said. Yadhava wholeheartedly accepted perumal’s words and came and prostrated ramanuja and requested swamy to bless him with thrithandam. Understanding yadhava’s interest swamy told him that for that he has to first do the prayaschittam. Yadhava told ramanuja what pErarulAlan said and accordingly came around ramanuja and humbly stood in front of swamy. Andan and Azhwan where pleased to see how both yadhava’s thought and perumal’s blessings matched each other. Both of them were amazed to think that yadhava’s hatred as paved the path for his welfare also. Ramanuja was highly pleased and he did the appropriate rites according to the sastras and presented the thrithandam to yadhava and named him “Govinda jeeyer”. Then swamy did panchasamskarams to him and blessed him with the manthraratnam passed on through the hierarchy of guru parampara. Then swamy ordered him to do a book named “ethidharma samuchchayam” inorder to prevent the discrepancy that may arise in the sastras. “vidhi: kartrudhasA lingam prayOkO mukya karma cha I ahOrAtrakriyA AachArO lingadharmO gathi: stiti: II prAyaschittAni samskAra etyEkAdhasa parvaka: II” In this way Govinda Jeeyer did a sangraha (short but filled with essence) prabhandam and placed it in front of ramanuja and prostrated swamy. Swamy with great happiness glanced through the prabhandam. In this way govinda jeeyer stayed in the shadow of acharya’s divine feet for sometime and then attained the divine abode of emperuman.
