There is famous proverb in Tamil that says, “An moolam arasAlum” (the males born

in the star of moolam will rule over). Do we have proof to establish this? Yes

in our sampradayam we can show two males who were born in this divine star who

have ruled over EMPERUMAN (the king of kings, paramapurushan, the ultimate

leader) himself. Who were they? One is the hero of today, born in the month of

mArgazhi- AnjanA sudhan, Rama dhoothan, Sri AnjanEyan. The second is none other

than our dear Swamy Manavala mAmunikal, the acharya who the great Periya perumal

himself chose to be HIS acharya to enjoy the divine arthas of the mAran

senthamizh, thiruvaimozhi through the divine commentaries of the poorvacharyas,

mainly the nampillai eedu, who was born in Iypasi thirumoolam. We have already

enjoyed how Periya perumal became the shisya of Swamy Manavala mAmunikal and

submitted the ‘srisailEsa thaniyan’ largely in these groups. On this day,

grandly celebrated as ‘hanumath jayanthi’ (the birth

day of hanuman) let us enjoy how hanuman generally regarded as only a great

bhaktha of Sri rama pirAn got the greatness as an acharya and was deeply

regarded by rama himself.

Swamy desikan celebrates anjaneya as “hanumath samEna gurunA”. Ramayana is not

only an epic, and a story but it is a bureau of sampradAyic information and

dramatic version of the vedAntha. Our acharyas show the deep arthas immersed in

the ocean of rAmAyana and have blessed us with the divine meanings through their

commentaries. Our acharyas say that while rama, seetha and lakshmana walked

towards the forest it was like the walking pranavam. Pranavam is split into

akAram, vukAram and makAram. AkAram refers to the paramatma (Sri ramapiran),

vukaram is the piratti (who binds the jeevatma and paramatma through her

purushakaram) and the makAram is the jeevatma here lakshmana.

In the later stage after piratti was carried away by ravana, chakravarthi

thirumagan sent anjanEya in search of piratti with his ring. At that time, our

acharyas say that here it can be equated to the jeevatma getting separated from

paramatma and to get him back perumal sends the acharya in search of the

disciple. Here hanuman becomes the acharya who saves the jeevatma (piratti)

from killing herself, with the help of the taraka manthram, and gives the soul

the confidence that perumal will surely come and rescue her from the hard

situations. Then the very same acharya goes to perumal and says, “kandEn

seethaiyai” (“drushtA seetha”) and wipes the sorrow of emperuman who worries due

to the separation of piratti (“ekAki na ramEtha” emperuman even while in the

divine abode amidst all pleasures still worries due to the separation from his

sons, the jeevatmas. Then will he not worry while in the human form in this

world?). This is what an acharya actually does. He builts the

confidence in the disciple who suffers in the world that emperuman is always

there to protect us and grant the divine abode and then he pleases the emperuman

by submitting the jeevatma into his divine feet. On hearing hanuman’s words

after returning from lanka, Sri rama said, “Oh! anjaneya you have left me

indebted. What can I give you in return for the great help you have rendered

and swamy hugged anjanEya with pleasure (parishvangO hanoomatha:)”. After the

ravana vatham, anjanEya rushed to seetha piratti and told her about the victory

of ramapiran like a small kid running to its mother to share its joy. Seeing

anjanEya piratti was dumb folded and she uttered, “Oh! anjenEya what can I give

you in return for this mahAupakAram”.

Do you all know how hanuman reacted? Even at that point hanuman was not proud

of his act instead he admired the unison in the words of the divya dampathis.

He said, “Oh! Devi you two are really divine since the same words were uttered

by emperuman too. You two have such a unity”. Piratti said, “ It is not due to

our understanding but it is due to your greatness that made both of us utter the

same words” Both perumal and piratti felt indebted to hanuman. To honour

hanuman, perumal later in the bharatwaja ashramam, made hanuman to eat along

with him in a single plantain leaf. In this way, hanuman ruled over emperuman

with his bhakthi and love. Did hanuman stop with this? No he saved one another

divine soul. Yes. He saved the great bhagavata bharatha from doing

agnipravesam (entering into the fire to kill himself) due to the delay in the

arrival of perumal. So the actual hero of Ramayana was hanuman who did the

right things in the right time in the right way with the help of

the “Rama” manthram.

At the end of the avatharam, perumal wished to grant moksha to all who were

interested in ayodhya. But to perumal’s sorrow the one who refused the same was

the very same hanuman who perumal greatly wanted to take along with him (“bhAvO

nAn yathra gachchathi”). Can such a great vairakya seela, filled with bhakthi

refuse the divine abode of emperuman? Why did he do so? AnjanEya explained, “I

have enjoyed the roopa of emperuman as chakravarthi thirumagan along with seetha

piratti. I do not want to fall into even any other form of perumal even if he

is the vaikundhanAthan. So I will stay in this world till Ramayana lives and

stand in the place where Ramayana is recited with eyes filled with tears.”

“yathra yathra ragunAtha keerthanam thatra thatra kruthamasthakAnjalim

pAshpavAri paripoorna lOchanam mAruthim namatha rAksha sAnthakam”

Let us all fall into the divine feet of this great bhagavata and pray to him to

bless us with atleast one percent of his divine bhakthi and mahavishvasam

towards the emperuman.

Jai AnjanEya!!! Jai bajranga bali!!!
