AchArya Hrdhyam -sUthram 222 Contd.

It was seen that the Lord Almighty is present everywhere. Is it a great thing?

Even the sky encompasses everything. The great thing is the Lord is not just

omni-present. He is not merely inside and outside the souls and things. He is

the Governing factor of one and all in the whole scheme of things. The

omni-presence sparkles because of this factor.

Moreover, AzhwAr desired service to the Almighty at all sates, all places and

all times. The Lord displayed His great deeds in the past as if it is present

period to AzhwAr. AzhwAr's present period and pAst of the Lord became equated.

This enabled AzhwAr to exprience the great deeds, pranks and other activites

and events of the Lord .

AzhwAr felt very much that he was not able to serve the Lord with flowers and

worship during the Lord's great deeds like vanquish of lankA or the conquer of

the seven bulls and so on. The Lord removed this grievance by accepting AzhwAr's

nenjam as an adornment- pUsum sAndhu, AzhwAr's soul as a garland- puNayum kanni

enadhu vuyir, AzhwAr's song as silk robe- vAsagam sei mAlaiyEa vAn pattAdai and

so on. AzhwAr became so fulfilled on His activieties soul and body being

accepted as desired ones by the Lord Almighty. This reflected the Lord's

immeasurable affection and Love towards AzhwAr. This led ot ecstasy and pangs of

separation.

The pang transposed into search for Him which culminated into seeing all the

things around as Him.-yEaRia pithu.AzhwAr desired the Lord as He would be in the

nithya-vibhUthi. The Lord granted this to AzhwAr in this world. AzhwAr got the

vision of the " Lord with peirya pirAtti " . The vision enjoyed by the souls there

is granted to AzhwAr here. The time restriciton, place restriciton are all

removed. The unparallel joy , eternal mirth is expressed by AzhwAr as " vEvil

inbam " , thus. The matchless divine feet granted to AzhwAr by the Lord is

appreciated time and again by swAmi nam-AzhwAr.

This automatically culminated into a. Indifference towards other deities. b.

Indifference towards ones' body and soul and c. Indifference towards worldly

pleasures including materialistic ends.

These convictions are expressed in a. thErpArai yAm ini thiru voi mozhi 4-6-

indifference towards other deities--dhEvathAnthra vairAgyam. b. yERALum

iRaiyOnum thiru voi mozhi 4-8- indifference towards ones' body and souls and

c. indifference towards joyless world -worldly pleasures-materialstic ends but

painful earth in 'nannAdhAr muRuvalippa " thiru voi mozhi 4-9.

Further,

The Fourth Ten

" oru nAyakam enRu, rAjya swargAthmAnubhava alpAsthirathva

sAvadhigathvAdhigaLaiyum... "

Summary: It was seen that AzhwAr shunned materialistic and other pleasures.

AzhwAr explains the temporary nature of these in the thiru voi mozhi " oru

nAyakam " . The worldly pleasures are temporary. The status -royal and other

status -is temporary. The materialsitic wealth is temporary. The enjoyment in the

heaven is temporary. The enjoyment of ones soul is also not eternal happiness is

explained in this thiru voi mozhi from the first to final pAsuram.

pAsuram-s: The demerits of the worldly pleasures , the disadvantages of this

materialistic wealth and stauts, the temporary nature of the heavenly enjoyment

are all listed out in the thiru voi mozhi " oru nAyakamAi " 4-1;

" peru nAdu kANa immaiyilEa pichai thAm kOLvar " -------------------------->}

The Worldly pleasures,status, royal

" vAzhndhArgaL vAzhndhadhu vAzhndhE niRpar enbandhu illai " ----->}status are all

temporary and vanish within

" vemmin oLi veyil kANagam pOi

kumaithinbargaL " -->} no time. Hence, apporach

the feet of

" podi sEAr thugaLAi pOvargaL

" ----------------------------->} the Lord

Almighty.

" kudi mannu suvargam eidhiyum mELvargaL " ---> 4-1-9---> Even after reaching the

Heaven, the souls are bound to come back to earth after the puNNIyam in their

acct. is exhausted.Hence, suvargam is not permanent.

" iRugal iRappu ennum " ------>4-1-10----> The enjoyment of ones soul is also not

entirely satisfactory. This is also not eternally yielding happiness and is not

with unlimited joy.
