The Fifth Ten

poliga ! poliga ! poliga.

 

" vishavrusha palangaL kai kUdinavar adimai pukkAraiyum Atch seivAraiyum kANa

lOkathdhvEpAndhrangaLil ninRum pOndha dhEvar kuzhAngaLaik kaNdu kAppittu,

prahlAdha vibhEshaNa soR kELAdha arakkar asurar pOlvArai thadavaip

pidithu.......... "

 

Summary: It has been time and again observed that AzhwAr's bhakthi pervades to

the devotion to the devotees. It does not stop with that. AzhwAr counsels the

samsAri- fellow souls- to surrender unto Him and serve Him. --Refer onRum

dhEvum- 4-10 of thiru voi mozhi. The devotion to the Lord and to the devotees

are the fruits which AzhwAr got from the poisionous tree of samsAra.

 

The AzhwAr advised the samsAris in the " onRum dhEvum " thiru voi mozhi. The

effect was tremondous. AzhwAr had a divine vision of " srEvaishNavites " in and

around this world. He praised this-- " poliga!poliga " -- the mangaLA sAsanam by

AzhwAr. He also saw the srEvaishNates in the Lord's other world -nithya sUrigaL-

and appreciated that - " poliga, poliga , poliga " .

AzhwAr exclaims - We had a great vision. We had a sweet vision.--- " kaNdOm!

kaNdOm! kaNdOm-kaNNukku iniyana kaNdOam! "

 

The non-srEvaishNavites became a rare breed. They had to be searched and found

out. Even the asura clans became reformed. Those who did not heed to the advice

of sri prahlAdhAzhwAn or vibishaNa AzhwAn were a rare specimen and had to be

searched like a needle in a haystack.

 

The impact of counsel by AzhwAr and the resultant divine pervading vision is

greatly appreaciated by the ecstasic AzhwAr as

 

" poliga! poliga! poliga "

..

Counsel by AzhwAr: " onRum dhEvum " thiru voi mozhi 4-10:

 

What is the advice?

" maRRaith dheivam nAdhudhirEa " --> Are you approaching other deities?

" dheivam maRRillai " -----> There is no other Almighty but sriman NArAyaNA.

" Adhi mUrthikku adimaip puguvadhuvEa'--> The only way to escape is to surrender

and serve Him.

" Atch cheivadh vuRuvadhu " ---> Serve Him. It should be your only goal.

 

Imapct of the aformentioned advice:

 

" poliga! poliga! poliga! " thiru voi mozhi 5-2-1.

" vaikunthan bhUdhangaLEAi " ----> thiru voi mozhi 5-2-5---> Everybody became the

Lord's messengers.

" thadamkadal paLLIp perumAn thannudaip bhUdhangaLEyAi " ---> thiru voi mozhi

5-2-4 -->All became the Lord's service carriers.

" dhEvargaL thAmum pugundhu " ---> thiru voi mozhi 5-2-3 ---> The dhEvargaL

in the srEvaishNavites in that world .

" nEamip pirAn thamar pOndhAr " ---> thiru voi mozhi 5-2-6---- > The Lord''s close

devortees-nithya sUrigaL.

" kaNdOam! kaNdOam! kaNdOAm! " ---> thiru voi mozhi 5-2-2-----> The divine sight of

the srEvaishNvaites here, there and everywhere,

--- " what a sight? " is the excalamation by AzhwAr.

 

" arakkar asurar piRandhEr vuLLErEAl " --> thiru voi mozhi 5-2-5 ---> Even the

demon clans became reformed. Those who did not heed the advic of prahlAdhA or

sri vibhishaNA became a rare breed. They were searched and also made srE vishNu

devotees.
