The ninth Ten

 

None other than Lord krishNA - Our Saviour

" kaNNan allAl illai kaNdEr charaN "

 

" im mada vulagar kaNdadhOdu patta abAndhava, arakshaga, ayOgya, asuga, anupAya,

pradhi sambhandhiyAik kAtti.. "

 

AzhwAr now turns his attention towards those who still have not been reformed by

his earlier counselling and are still in the midst of life cycles. He advises

them the fraility, inability, undependability, opportunistic nature of the so

called friends and relatives in the thiru voi mozhi " koNda peNdir " 9-1. Those

people who are supposed to give happiness will vanish when distress stirkes. The

friends and relatives will not lend a helping hand when problem springs up. They

are also incapable of doing so. When there is money they will swarm us, when

there is darkness they will desert us. They will sap us.

 

Then who should we depend on, if these friends and relatives are not so?

Approach Lord krishNA. He is the saviour. He is the trouble shooter of all

times. He is the dependable one. He is the one who has installed Himself for

troubled times. He is the ultimate. He is our happiness.

He is thus the one to be reached. He is the means, He is the saviour, He is the

happiness is the counselling extended by AzhwAr.

The inadequacy, the incapability, the undependablity and futility of so called

friends and relatives are all summarised in the thiru voi mozhi " koNda peNdir "

9-1;

 

" koNda peNdir, makkaL vuRRAr, suRRathavar piRarum,

kaNdadhOdu pattadhu allAl kadhal maRRu Adhum illai.. " 9-1-1

The wife, friends, children others do not extend real love and affection. Their

love and affecton are not true.

 

" thuNaiyum ,sArvum AguvAr pOle suRRathavar piRarum,aNaiya vandha

Akkam vuNdEAl, attaigaL pOle suvaippar... " 9-1-2

Those who claim to be ones life partner and others actually sap off us like

leeches.

 

" poruL kai vuNdAi seiyyak kANil pORRi enREthu ezhuvar

iruL koL thunbathinmai kANIl ennEA enbArum illai " 9-3-3;

When they see us with money and wealth they indulge in flattery;

When darkness surrounds, there nobody to even throw compassionate words.

 

" sadhiram enRu thammaith thAnEa sammadhithu in mozhiyAr,

madhuram bhOgam thuRRavarEA, vaigi maRRonRu vuruvar.. " 9-3-5;

Those women who had appreciated and entertained men, subseqently insult them.

 

 

Then who is the ultimate who helps us; Who is our saviour; who is our refuge?

 

" ..eNdhisaiyim, kEzhum mEalum muRRavum, vuNda pirAn.. " 9-1-1;

The Lord who consumed and safeguarded one and all during the praLayam is our

refuge.

 

" ..vada madhurai piRandhARku , aruLkoL ALAi vuyyal allAl,illai kaNdEr

araNEA. " 9-1-3;

The Lord who descendedinto mathurA is the one who is our shield agaist all

problems.

 

'vada madhurai piRandhavan vaN pugazhEa charaN enRu vuyyap pOgil allAl,

illai kaNdER sadhirEA " 9-1-4

He is the ultimate to surrender oneself to;

 

" illai kaNdEr inbamEa " 9-1-5

He is the ultimate happiness.

 

'kaNNan allAl illai kaNdEr charaN adhu niRka vandhu.. " 9-1-10

There is none other than Lord krshNA who is our ultimate refuge.

 

The final say is that Lord krshNA is our refuge which is expressed as

 

 

" kaNNan allAl illai kaNdEr charaN "
