None by birth is a SriVaishnavite. SriViashnavism has no constraints. There are

many external and internal qualities that are needed to become a SriVaishnavite.

The first and foremost thing is that one should always show compassion to all

the living beings. One should feel the pain in others, and try as much as

possible to help the suffering person out of distress. One should never show any

kind of hatred on any living being. This kind of compassion is the third

pushpam, called dayA.

KshamA refers to forbearance. This is a very tough quality to cultivate. One

should be ready to accept the blame for any deed or mistake in Bhagavata Goshti

even if one has not committed that. Similarly, the person should also be ready

to forgive the mistakes of others.

JnAnam for a soul refers to the knowledge of the fact that the soul is

completely sub servient to Sriman Narayana. This is the most fundamental

vEdantic concept, and has been clearly told by our Azhwars and Acharyas.

Tapas refers to the eagerness of learning more Bhagavat vishayam. It does not

literally translate to penance. It is the way of life itself. One should always

be eager to learn more Bhagavat vishayam. DyAnam refers to meditation. One

should always contemplate on the Bhagavat anubhavam.

Satyam refers to truth. The synchronised action of mind and body of the soul is

called satyam. This kind of a synchronisation needs to be achieved in Bhagavat

kaimkaryam.

Let us look at all the pushpams now,

We have to climb up seven hills before we reach ThiruVenkadamudayan sannadhi. If

we compare the count of hills to the count of pushpams, by the time we cross the

seven hills, we would have accumulated 7 pushpams, and the last one is satyam.

That pushpam will automatically fall in our count when we are in Thirumalai.

That is what is called Satyam, which is no one but ThiruVenkadamudayan Himself.

‘Satyam Satyam punar satyam….. vEdat sAstram param nAsti, na daivam kEsavAt

param’

aDiyEn would like to give one anubhavam from plenty in Azhwar’s pasurams in line

with worshipping ThiruVenkadamudayan. Here is anubhavam of Thirumazhisai Azhwar

on ThiruVenkadam,

‘senRu vaNanguminO sENuyar vEnkadaththai, ninRu vinaikedukkum nIrmaiyaal, enRum

kadikkamala naanmuganum kaNmoonRath thaanum, adikkamalam ittEththu mangu.’

Should we really need to carry varieties of flowers and worship

ThiruVenkadamudayAn? But, none stops us even if we are going to do so. Let us

look the kaimkaryams by some of our AchAryAs, Azhwars pasurams on ‘sinavEngai

pArkum Thirumalai’ and ThiruVenkadamudayAn in the next few postings.
