Dear All,

A walk along the beach with a nice treat of cold moon light and gentle breeze is

something anyone would like. Thirumangai Azhwar did not like this ambienece.

Instead, he felt the other way. He felt that the moon light was like fire. The

breeze was something that was actually fuelling this impact with its force on

the beach side. This was the expereince of Parakala Nayaki in the absence of her

lover, Nambi. She felt that she was not blessed by Nambi, and hence requested

everyone to carry and put her in Thirukkurungudi, where she believed she could

get Moksham. Here is the beautiful pasuram of Thirumangai Azhwar in Periya

Thirumozhi,

Azhwar proudly says that he knows completely about this Perumal. If we look at

this fact, we would not be surprised. The reason is very simple. Vedanta tried

by itself to completely talk about Nambi, and hence failed. Where as Azhwar was

able to completely talk about Nambi because Azhwar did not make an attempt,

instead Nambi made Azhwar to talk about Him. Azhwar called Nambi by the name

Perarulalan. He says that Nambi had so much of vAtsalyam that He decided to live

permenantly in Azhwar’s heart. Nambi’s heart in turn is adorned by Thirumagal

(Thayar).

In the next 10 pasurams, Azhwar refers to Shivan here. The unique speciality of

Kaliyan is the combined anubhavam of archai, vibhavam, puranam and Divya Desam

itself. Here is the first pasuram in this pathigam,

He calls Shivan as Pakkam Nindrar. Shivan requested Perumal during Vamana

avataram to give him a place beside Him after getting sanctified by the Hari

Padha Theertham. Vamanan lived in this place in a small hut. That is why this

place is called Thirukkurungudi and also as Siddhashramam in sanskrit.

Azhwar refers to the relationship of protector and protected in this pasuram.

Even the crane here is protecting its child. That is the beauty of Divya Desam.

From the lives in Divya Desam we can make out that the One who is here as Nambi

will protect all of us.

If we can recite the above 10 pasurams starting from akkum puliyum even with out

any attempt to worship or know about Nambi, still all our sins will get burnt by

Nambi. Azhwar claims that he has sung these pasurams just in line with vedanta.

In summary, we have seen that Nambi is the one and only Perumal who has got

direct sambandham with ‘Parankusa-Parakal-Yativarar. Because of His Grace,

NamPaduvan, a bhakta born in lower caste got Moksham. Today happens to be

Kaisika Ekadasi. He is also the only archai Perumal to house all HIs states of

existance.

This Nambi was the One who listened to ghAnam of Araiyars by hiding behind the

shade of avarai kodi,

‘valar araiayr thiru munbhu avarai pandhal nizhalil nindru van ghAnam ketta

Perumal’

Araiyars used ot live in a street called BahshyakAra street. In the present

days, araiyars from Srivilliputtur visit Thirukkurungudi.

‘solai suzh Nambikku mangalam, andar konum aranum adivaravum Nambikku mangalam,

Krungudi nindra Nambiku mangalam’

aDiyEn requests all the BhAgavatAs to visit Nambi whenever possible. Words are

not enough to describe His beauty. Beauty is very comprehendable by just the

darshan. Unlike Badri, where we cant get in the stage of 'mutramoothu kol

thunai and thandukAlAl oondri oondri, we all can visit Then Badri (South Badri,

Thirukkurungudi) at any stage of life.

aDiyEn apologises for any errors in this series.

Sri Parthasarathi thunai,

Srimathe ramanujaya namaha

Sri vara vara munaya namaha

sri vanachala mahamunaya namaha

No words can be equated to the ecstatic divyadesa anubhavam poured by Sri

Ramanan in his mails on Srirangam, Thirumalai , Kancheepuram and

Thirukkurungudi.

Adiyen gets a sense of satisfaction as though adiyen has just now completed

a divyadesa yatra covering the above said places.

Vaishnava lakshnam as a sishya shown by Thirukkurungudi Nambi is the

highlight.

Adiyen would like to add,

This lakshnam is also shown by Thiruarangan to our beloved and revered

acharya swamy Manavala mamunigal.

A sishyas prime duty to an acharyan is to submit a thaniyan, which is

rightly done by Namperuamal as Srisailesa thaniyan on the day of the

completion of the Edu Kalakshebam by our swamy.

Secondly, a sishya's belongings now belong to the acharya also. This is

righly again shown by Namperuamal by giving his Adiseshan as asana to

Mamunigal. That is why Swamy Mamunigal is seen always with Adisesha peedam.

Thirdly, a sishya should remember his acharyas theertha nal, which is

righltly done by Namperumal every year at Srirangam even today.

These are the thoughts which came to adiyens mind when reading the postings

on the sishya lakshnam shown by thirukurungudi nambi to our emberumanar.

Poliga poliga poliga. Adiyen does a heart filled mangalasasanam as Pallandu

pallandu to Ramanana sawmy for this divine kaikaryam.
