An Apparent Contradiction?

 

The final pAsuram of "kaLvan kol!" thirumozhi throws out an apparent contradiction.

 

the pAsuram reads as

 

"... thaniyEA , nedumAl thuNaiyA..." 3-7-10;

 

thaniyEA--- alone

 

nedumAl thunaiyA-- accompanied by the Almighty.

 

How can parakAla nAyaki be alone and also be accompanied by the Almighty ?. If she is alone then she cannot be with the Lord. If she is with the Lord she cannot be termed as alone.

 

When a bride is married off and for the first time enters the pugundha vEDu, she is accompanied by either her parents or her breothers or some maternal relatives, during the grihap pravEsam. Protocol warrants that somobody from her side should accompany her to the house of her husband. The husband and his relatives would anybow be going alongwith her. Still, if nobody from her side accompanies during the first visit, she will feel alone and also be termed as sent alone.

 

That is what is meant here by the thAyAr of parakAla nAyaki. She goes alone because there is nobody from her side. However, she is not literally alone because the Lord is with her.

 

Hence, this is no contradiction.
