Guest guest
Sri Parthasarathi thunai Srimathe ramanujaya Namaha Srimad Vara Vara munayE Namaha Sri vAnAchala mahA munayE Namaha Paasuram-38 “agaippil manisarai Aru samayam pugaiththAn porukadal neervaNNan-vugaikkumEl eththEvar vAlAttum evvAru seigaiyum appOdhozhiyum azhaippu” Since whatever is happening depends on the sankalpa (thought) of emperuman, he is considered to be the Adhi (supreme). It is said in the sastras that brahma is the creator and siva the destroyer. Then can’t they also be considered as par with emperuman? “If he is not inside them as antharyAmi, then they will loose their power and become useless”, says azhvar. (agaippil manisarai) How much ever we advise the jeevas, people like you never try to understand anything and strive to be foolish; “agaippu”- ascend; improvement of knowledge. (agaippil manisarai) those jeevas who lack intelligence. (Lack of intelligence in a greater level) (Aru samayam pugaiththAn) He made them involved in the six different philosophies viz.,sAkkiyar (bhoththa), ulookiyar (naiyAyika), akshapAdar (vAishEshika), kshapanar (jaina), kapilar (sAnkiyam), padanjali (yOgam) [instead of naiyAyikas and yoga- sArvAga and pAsupadha philosophies are sometimes included in the six types of philosophies) (pugaiththan) hunters, in order to get the wild animals outside their bushes burn some dry leaves and with the help of the smoke hunt the innocent animals. Similarly emperuman using the same trick used the six different philosophies to capture the poor jeevatmas into the nest of samsara. (agaippil ….pugaiththAn) amidst the smoke it is very difficult to get a clear vision. Even if someone instructs us the way, still the travel is difficult similarly though azhvar advices the jeevatmas many times still it is very difficult to come out of the illusion of devathANtara paratvam and understand the sole supremacy of emperuman. (porukadal neervaNNan-vugaikkumEl) That supreme lord, who gives pleasure to the eyes of all those who enjoy his darshan. Like the ocean that fulfills the wishes of all, emperuman grants all our wishes. There is no chance for him to ignore us. If incase water becomes fire and he ignores us? (eththEvar vAlAttum ozhiyum) The ego and pride of all the devas who behave like monkeys will all vanish. (vAlAttum) the shaking of the dog’s tail indicates the dogs gratefulness towards us. Hence here vAlAttum also indicates gratitude (abhimAnam) the devas remain with the thought that they are the supreme (IshvarOham) (evvAru azhaippu seikaiyum ozhiyum) People in this world do all sorts of yagnas to please the devas and call them with vedic verses, “indram AvAgayAmi; varunam AvAgayAmi” All these will come to an end. The calling will stop; the yagnas will stop when emperuman ignores them. Only under the willingness of emperuman can all these devas who consider themselves to be gods and all those who call them through yagnas and give avirbhAvas will remain. The instant he neglects them irrespective of the devas or jeevas everything will come to an end even before the pralaya kAlam.
