This kind of comparison is done by swAmi nam-AzhwAr and also thiruvarangathamuidhanAr. nam-AzhwAr in peirya thiruvandhAdhi. Here, he compares the Grace of the Lord with Staff "aruL ennum thaNdAl adithu" Periya thiruvandhAdhi 26; Sri thiruvarangathamudhanAr goes a step ahead and talks about the grace of sri rAmAnujA removing the sins and effects from the roots.
