Guest guest
ezhil mADAm ezhubadu seidhu vulagamANDa -thiru-kulathu chOzhan sEarndha thirunaRaiyUr maNimADam sEArmingaLEa There was a debate that why should one talk of this chOzhan having been a worhshipper of shivaperumAn now worshipping the Lord. This chOzhA king is supposed to have been taken a birth of 'spider' amd made a web in thiruvANaik-kOil. In the next birth, he became an ardent devotee of shivaperumAn and constructed 70 big mAdam-s for shivaperumAn,- in each of the 70 divisions of chOzha dhEsam- temples which was non-assailable by elephants. This is corroborated in periya purANam 'senkaNAn andhamil sEr sOnATTil aganAduthorumaNiyAr chandrasEkaran arundhAnangaL pala samaindhAn' However, he was not able to fulfill his desires and reached the feet of the thirunaRaiyUr Lord Sri peiryavAchAn piLLai has explained this in the vyAkyAnam as follows: "vEdhathil srE purusha-sukthAthigaLai vuchariyA ninRuLLa vAiyaiyudaiyarAi ettuthOlgaLaiyumudaiya dhEvarkku, dharsanEya mAdangaL ezhubadhu samaithu, pinnaiyum thannudaiya abimadham kidayAmaiyAlEa,avvabimadha sidyArthamAga AsrayikkiRa dhEsam'' Having not got his desires fulfilled even after constructing several temples for shivaperumAn who is uttering purusha-sUkthAthigaL, the king for this purpose approached and worhsipped thirunaRAiyUr perumAL. The pAsuram "...irukkilangngu thirumozhi vAi eNthOL Esarkku ezhil mAdam ezhubadhu seidhu vulagamANDa , thirukkulathu vaLach chOzhan sEarndha kOil-thirunaRaiyUr maNi mAdam sEArmingaLEa' 6-6-8; Here,it is pertinent to note that thirumanagai AzhwAr depicts shivaperumAn as a devotee of Lord of vishNu by describing him as one who is uttering purusha-sUkthAdhigaL.--irukkilangu thirumozhi vAi dAsan vanamamalai padmanabhan dAsan vanamamalai padmanabhan
