Guest guest
Sri Parthasarathi thunai Srimathe ramanujaya Namaha Srimad Vara Vara munayE Namaha Sri vAnAchala mahA munayE Namaha Paasuram-48 “vEnkatamE viNNOr thozhuvadhuvum meimaiyAl vEnkatamE meivinnai nOi theerpadhuvum-vEnkatamE dhAnavarai veezha than Azhip padai thottu vAnavarai kAppAn malai” Thirumalai, the divine hill serves as a worshipping place for the nithyasooris and also a place that overrides the diseases of the nithya samsaris. (vENkatamE viNNOr thozhuvadhuvum meimaiyAl) Since the last line talks about helping the devas “vAnavarai kAppAn” here “meimaiyAl viNNOr thozhuvadhum” refers to the nithya sooris. ‘meimaiyAl thozhuvadhu’ indicates that there are two types of worship True worship and false worship. While the devas fall to the feet of the lord, though they consider him to be their refuge, still they prostrate him for some cause, to gain what they have lost (wealth or post). This is false worship (for the purpose of gaining something). Whereas the nithyasooris consider thirumalai, his divine abode to be upaya and upEya (means and goal) and worship him. This is true wholehearted worship just for the happiness of the lord. In the case of the devas their mind is not clear (eagerness to attain what they want) and hence it is false worship whereas the nithyasooris don’t have anything in mind other than the lord and deep devotion towards him. That is why azhvar says “meimaiyAl” (vEnkatamE meivinnai nOi theerpadhuvum) For the nithyasooris thirumalai is a place of worship but for the nithyasamsAris who are filled with many hardships thirumalai serves as a place that overrides all their problems. (meivinnai) those sins that will not vanish till we suffer. “avashyamanubhOkdhavyam” declare the sastras [brahmavaivarththam-prakruthi kaNdam 26-70] jeeva should compulsorily enjoy the good and bad effects of the sins they have committed. It cannot override the effects at any point of time. (nOi theerpadhuvum vENkatamE) All our diseases are cured in thirumalai. Due to this body, whatever sins make us suffer with various problems and diseases everything is removed due to the nirheduka krupai of emperuman in thirumalai. The word vEnkatam itself shows that it overrides all our sins. Swamy nammazhvar says, “vEmkatangal meimEl vinai muRRavum”. (vEnkatamE dhAnavarai veezha…vAnavarai kAppAn malai) Emperuman holds his chakrayudha and wins over the asuras and blesses the devas with their wealth once again. (Azhi padai thottu) Emperuman need not even use his chakra (discus) but it is enough if he just holds it in his hand. The asuras face defeat and the devas get back their kingdom.
