Guest guest
Dear All, Let us contiunue from where we left in the last posting: ganNdha maamala rettumittu niNnkaamar sEvadi kaithozhudhezhum, punNdhiyEn manatthE pugunNdhaayaip pOgalottEn, sanNdhi vELvi sadangku nNaanmaRai Odhi yOdhuvith thaadhi yaayvarum, anNdha NaaLa raRaavaNiyaali yammaanE Thriumangai Azhwar sings on ThiruvAli Thirunagari Divya Desam in the above pasuram. Azhwar refers to the eight flowers in this pasuram. Instead of offering one/more/all of the eight flowers at different times, he offers all the flowers together simultaneously. Azhwar refers to these flowers with reference to Thirumantram. Each letter in the mantram refers to one flower, and together they form the Tirumantram. The above eight letters can be related to each of the eight Swayamvyakta Kshetrams too. They are:(1) Srirangam (2) ThiruVenkadam(3) SriMushnam (4) Vaanamaamalai (5) Naimisaaranyam (6) Pushkaram (7) Saalagraamam (8) Badrikaasramam There was one Azhwar who is known particluarly for Pushpa kaimkaryam. Let us enjoy his pasurams in the following posting. To summarize: 1. We started with Nammazhwar's pasurams and his reference to flowers from any/all of the eight directions, including the kind of pushpa kaimkaryam in ThiruVenkadam 2. Kaliyan's reference to AshtAkshara mantram as nAmam (TiruVenkadam pasuram) 3. Kaliyan's reference to eight letters of the Thirumantram itself as eight flowers This number eight has not stopped with these two Azhwars. seNbakamallikaiyOdu sengazhuneer_iruvaatchi eNpakar_poovumkoNarndhEn inRu_ivaisoottavaavenRu maNpakar_koNdaanai aaychchimakizhndhuraiseydha_immaalai paNpakarvillipuththoorkkOn pattar_piraan_sonnapaththE.aDiyEn,ramanan Start your day with - make it your home page
