piDi-kambamA

'kambamA' refers to a pachyderm. Thirumangai AzhwAr has used it as an adjective. 'kambamA kaLiRu anjik kalanga..' 10-1-9 of Periya ThiruMozhi.

The word 'piDi' refers to a female elephant.

'piDi sEAr kaLiRaLtha pEArALA, vundhan adisEArndharuL peRRAL anREA" mudhal ThriuvandhAdhi 97; Sri Poizhgai AzhwAr explains that the elephant always stays with its pair.

'piDiyaith thoDarum kaLiRenna, yAn vun piRangiya sEr-aDiyaith thodarum paDi nalga vEANDum..' rAmAnusa nURRAndhAdhi

Like a male elephant enamoured and toeing its pair, Oh! Sri RAmAnujA, bless me to follow your divine feet.
