SwAmy MaNavALa mAmunikaL in his upadhEsa RathinamAlai details the AzhwAr-s serially with their birth stars- thirunakshathiram-s and also their greatness. This is followed, by the vyAkyAnam-s and the greatness of EDu.

 

Then comes the six pAsuram-s exclusively dedicated to Sri PiLLai ulagAsiriyar

 

The first of it 'anna pugazh mudumbai aNNal ulagAsiriyan .." 53

 

That Sri piLLai ulagAsiriyar out of His immense sweet Grace blessed to us several rahasyam-s and that SrEVachaNabhUshaNam is the best is unequivocally mentioned therein.

 

That these are not just random thoughts of a pUrvAchAryA but are string of words made into garland of works of pUrvAchARyAs and AzhwAr-s and from idhihAsa purANam goes to prove its authenticity

The next pAsuram highlights that it is not easy to understand and more so to follow ;

'Ar vachana bhUdanathin Azh poruL ellAm aRivAr ..Aradhu sol nEAril anuttippAr' 55

 

The next pAsuram adivises one and all not just to study but to follow it meticulously

'vuyya ninaivudaiyEr..kaRRadhukkAm nilaiyum nillum aRindhu' 56

 

The next three pAsuram-s underline the fact that these can be studied and learnt thorugh AchAryan-s and one should value these contents.

 

The 60th pAsuram highlights the crux of the SrEvachaNa bhUshaNam -AchArya abhimAnamEA uthArakam

 

Even though one may have immense love, affection faith and devotion towards the Lord, unless one surrenders unto one-s Acharyan, the salvation will not fructify.

 

The definition of Lord is then given as one who has complete knowledge and the appropriate practices

'gnAnam anuTTanam ivai nanRAgavEa udaiyanAna ..' 61

 

One falling at the feet of such an AchAryan will attain the highest elevation with the grace of pirATTi and blessing of the Lord.

 

Summary: There are so many works of Sri PiLLai ulagAsiriyar. Several of them go in determining the vyAkyAnam-s of complex terms. MumUkshuppadi is one. thathvathrayam and artha-panchakam are another.

 

In case of SrEvachana-bhUshaNam, the sifting of various paths, the final solution is given in a silver salver for us after comprehensive process of selection and elimination and finally arrives at the conclusion that AchAryA-s abhimAnam is the most desired solution.
