Guest guest
GOOD DEMONS nalla asurar-thEya asurar-pollA arakkan kulathaLavEA AgumAm GuNam- is the general rule -old tamil saying. Going by one's birth, the clan is the criteria on deciding the good and badness of the sect. Notwithstanding this, Sri ANDAL mentions 'pollA arakkan' in the 13th pAsuram of ThriuppAvai 'puLLin vAi kENDAnai pollA arakkan..' When we talk of pollA arakkan, there should be good demons also. This is the import of the words 'pollA arakkan' There are good souls born in these asurA clan. Sri vibhEshanAzvAn, Sri PrahlAdhAzvhAn are standing examples of such. Demons per se are bad. However, AzvAr-s, apparently do not go by birth but by bhagavath-bhAgavatha sambandham. Thus comes out these words emphasising these thougths. It is to be understood therefore, that 'good' or 'bad' is not determined by birth but by the bhagavath-bhAgavatha sambandham. Sri Azhagia MaNavALap PerumAL nAyanAr clearly mentions "vipraRku GOthra, charaNa,SUthra kudasthar-parAsara, pArAsraya, bodhAyanAdhigaL; prabanna jana kUdasthar parAnkusa, parakAla, yethivarAdhikaL" AchArya Hrdhdayam 36; ancestral lineage is not our ghOthram or kulam but for we SrevasihNavites it is prabhanna jana kUdastharAna svAmi Nam-AzvAr 'parAnkusa parakAla yathivarAdhikaL' dAsan vanamamalai padmanabhan
