Guest guest
Dear All, Pranams! thuLakka milsudarai, avuNanudal piLakkum mainthanaip pEril vanangippOyaLappi lAramuthaiyamararkkaruL viLakkinai sendru vellaraik kANdumE (PT 10.1.4) Thirumangai Azhwar enjoys singing on various Divya Desams in Orunal suttram pathigam in periya thirumozhi. In the above pasuram, Kaliyan performs mangalasasanam to two DDs. One is ThiruppErnagar. The other one is Thiruvellarai. These two Divyadesams are very special. The anubhavam of both theses DDs is the subject of this series. Both the DDs are older than Srirangam. There is a specialty in linking these DDs with Srirangam. Thiruvellarai DD is very special for thayar (Sri). It is located north of Srirangam, and appropriately takes the first part of the name Srirangam for speciality, “Sri”. ThiruppErnagar is very special because it is located south of Srirangam, and appropriately takes the second part of the name Srirangam, “rangan”. It is also known as kOviladi. Perumal here is known as AppAla rangam, one among the 5 rangams. He is also known as AppakudathAn. Azhwars have given him special name, which is AarAvayitrAn. Going one step further, from divya desam to Azhwars’ Divya sUkthis… Thiruvellarai DD figures first in Periazhwar Thirumozhi, which is the first work in Divya prabandha kramam. ThiruppErnagar figures last in the Thiruvaymozhi. Nammazhwar performs mangalasasanam to AarAvayitrAn before proceeding to paramapadham. vangamaar kadalkalEzhum malaiyumvaanagamum matrum, anganmaa NyAla mellaam amuthuseythumizhntha enthai, thingaLmaamukilanaavu seripozhil thenthiruppEr,engaLmaaliRaivan naamam Eththinnaan uyntha vaarE (PT 5.9.2)(To be continued...)aDiyEn,ramanan gets better.
