Guest guest
GOOD/BAD DEEDS Good deeds result in good effects and bad in bad effects. This is the fundamental law as emphasised in vEdhas and upanishads. Coming to think of it , what is good ? That which lasts for ever is good. Does the effect of good deed - puNNiyam - lasts for ever. No? Does it remove the cycle of rebirths? No. Then how can it be termed as good deed, just because it yields ephemeral benefits? The bad deed as the name goes -is pApam- results in rebirth after suffering. Both pApam and puNNiyam result in rebirth. That is why our AchAryAs consider both as shackles . Only thing is puNNIyam is considered as golden shackle pon vilangu and pApam as irumbu vilangu. In the ultimate analysis, both are considered as vilangu and leads to continuing bondage. SvAmi Nam AzhwAr describeds as a bad effects 'sArndha iru val vinai' 1-5 of TiruvAiMozhi. In no way it is being advocated to drop all the good deeds. However, these are just but a code of conduct and in no way good or bad capable of taking one near to EmperumAn.
