That Kaliyan is a great taimil poet- well known.

That he is a great divya-desam crazy-agreed.

That he used tamil as a platform - accepted.

He is also very fond of this language tamil.

The orderly and sweet tamil, he himself reveals in his thirumozhi.

Dear svami,

A nice one.

Incidentally, nowadays we have many tamizh(s)..

chennai tamizh... madurai tamizh, tirunelveli thamizh, yAzhpANam tamizh & kOvai-coimbatore- tamizh (even singai tamizh, the spoken tamizh in Singapore is different from others) . People from one region say the other one is difficult.

But Kalian's kOvai tamizh (and all Azhvars' - in fact) is an universal tamizh and special one occupying highest status.

& kOdhai tamizh is the source for all vEdAs (vedapiran bhattar)

(sorry for bringing the subject of normal spoken tamizh(S) here)
