Jnanam-Bhakthi-sAkshAtkaram

There is one another elucidation for the

content of the 3 andhAdhis of respective three azhwars.

The three andhAdhis convey jnana, bhakthi and

sAkshAtkaram respectively.

Mudal thiruvandhAdhi- Poigaiazhvar Started

with praising the lord to be ubhaya vibhooti nAthan (possessor of both the

worlds) and goes on to elaborate the same in the forth coming paasurams by

highlighting the knowledge that the supreme lord who is the ubhayavibhooti

nAthan (owner of the two worlds) is the master – jnAnam

ErandAm thiruvandhAdhi – bhoothAzhvar –

indicated that that supreme lord is none other than Narayanan and concluded the

first paasuram with 'yAnudaiya anbu' indicating that the only way to reach the

supreme narayanan is by devotion (bhakthi towards him) – Bhakthi

MoondrAm thiruvandhAdhi – pEyazhvar –

elaborates the sAkshAtkaram (divine darshan, ultimate result) he had –that

which is obtained at the ripened stage of bhakthi and jnanam 'jnAnam kanindha

bhAkthi' (Ultimate knowledge transforming to bhakthi) – sAkshAtkAram

Though all 3 azhvars possessed jnanam, bhakthi

and obtained the sAkshAtkaram of emperuman, the lord revealed each stage

through each one of them. The first azhvar was personified as one with ripened jnana

entering the bhakthi stage, in the second azhvar, bhakthi reaching the ripened

form and the third as attaining the stage of sAkshAtkaram. It is a

process of one stage developing into the other. How can it happen

simultaneously in three different persons? This happened as all the 3

azhvars were bhAvagnyas (emotionally interlinked).

This is like a game of relay. The

first azhvar started running sung the mudal thiruvandhAdhi reached the stage of

ultimate jnana and stepped into bhakthi and gave the chance to the second who

continued, sung erandAm thiruvandhAdhi and reached the final stages of bhakthi

and passed it on to the third who reached the final and won the game by having

the sAkshAtkaram of emperuman. They worked as a team so the prize, the

thirumEni sparisam (divine touch) and divine darshan of Thirukkovaloor ayan was

common to all of them.
