Guest guest
nam KaliyanO! நம௠கலியனோ! Running out of funds for supporting the bhAgavatha thadheeyArAdhanam, Tirumangai Mannan decided to support it, even if it meant indulging in non-traditional means. To this effect, he indulged in such activities for supporting the thadheeyArAdhanam. Observing that AzvAr' source of revenue for this most important bhAgavatha kainkaryam, stretches even to retrieving wealth by performing activities not acknowledged as correct, the Lord decided to grace AzhwAr in a very special manner. He gathered along with him a troop that would make a worthy target for Tirumangai Mannan and walked through Tirumanankollai, where TirumangaiAzhwAr was hiding with his men to extract wealth from the passers-by. The Lord vayalAli maNavALan and His consort took the form of a newly wed brahmin couple, wearing many ornaments and being followed by a group of people, all carrying many riches. It wasn't long before Tirumangai Mannan and his men emerged before them with a roar and relieved them of their possessions, including the arugAzhi ring which Tirumangai Mannan removed with his own teeth. This prompted the Lord to remark,"nam kaliyanO!" The Blessings of EmperumAn thus fell on Tirumangai AzvAr. However, he was not able to recognize the couple as none other than the 'Divine Couple' -திவà¯à®¯ தமà¯à®ªà®¤à®¿. It is commonplace for EmperumAn to don the form of humans and descend to this world. For Kaliyan it is rarest of rare event. He commends that one having divine vision is so blessed to such an extent that even for the avuNan-mahAbali, he gives an adjective -SEr avunan -சீர௠அவà¯à®©à®©à¯. The eyes of the AzvAr were looking for a prey, a prey in the form of persons with opulence which could be transformed into a feast for devotees. In the quest with such single minded intention, Azvar failed to identify EmperumAn Himself and decided to take away ornaments from the One who owns all the worlds.Looking for prey, he overlooked the subject of prayer!
