Srimathe Narayanaye Namah:

Dear Members...

Recently Adiyen undertook a trip to India.

Adiyen had the good grace of Acharyas and Sriman

Narayana to get darshans at a number of Divya Desam

Temples in India.

As part of it, Adiyen went to Kancheepuram and

met Sri Sadagopan of Kerala ( different from Sri

Sadagopan who writes these emails) who takes care of

the Sri Vilakoli Perumal Nithya Aradhana trust in

India. I am going to write about my first hand

experiences with him/trust here.

Before starting my email let me assure you that I

was not sent by anyone nor had the intent to check on

the state of work done under Sri Vilakoli Perumal

Trust. I am not doing this as a favor for anyone in

India who manages this trust. Adiyen went there for

having darshan and happened to meet him and as I had

already contributed to this trust, I was interested

in the nature of work done under this trust.

1. I was shown lots of FD certificates ( at

ICICI, SBI, HDFC and other such well known and

hopefully safe deposit companies) which contained the

contributions.

2. I was shown an alarming fall in interest rates

got for some new FDs, which suggests a need for more

capital to provide the same monthly proceeds.

In some cases, the capital amount had matured

with rates as high as 13% pa and the new FDs had rates

of only 8%. This means that more capital will be

needed to get the same monthly interest amount.

3. I learned from the priests that, a three-part

work is done out of the money from this trust.

- Providing rice and other needed food items

for nithya aradhanam

- Govt provides a measly amount of

rice/food items every day for nithya aradhanam and the

trust provides supplements to these.

- Providing some monthly salary for the

priests in addition to the govt pay.

- Govt provides a measly 125 -175Rs ( < $4

) monthly salary for the priests. I heard that the

trust provides Rs.400 - 500 additionally. The priests

generally manage more than one temple and along with

the daily money from " sevarthis " , this additional

500Rs may provide some relief for them.

- A form of sale/display of Swami Desikan's

books are at display inside the Thoopul Temple to

raise further money.

4. Sri Sadagopan (Kerala) is maintaining a good

number of documents/bills/communication email

printouts of the day-to-day revenues for the trust. In

addition to this, he is a Yajur veda Scholar

and a Bhaghavatha.

The main intent of my email is to reassure all

the members who have contributed and request others

who have not yet contributed, to do so. There is some

good work being done out of this trust and with

Acharya's and Sriman Narayana's wishes, the money

should provide more benefits.

Adiyen's humble suggestion to people managing the

trust would be to publish reports of how the money was

spent/accounts and to advertise more about this trust

so that more people can contribute and more people can

benefit from this trust.
